DESPERATION ALWAYS SMELLS

September 15, 2005

I’m not saying that Bush is going to beat Kerry- unless Kerry keeps on doing what he has been doing. And, I’m not talking about flip-flopping.

A couple of days ago, I wrote a piece on the “Attack Dogs” that now run Kerry’s campaign. His campaign is beginning to look more like Howard Dean’s. Any day now I expect him to shout out in a shrill voice, the STATES that he’s going to win!

One day his campaign has the “W” theme: Bush is wrong, wrong, wrong. The next day (today) it’s the ‘Excuse Presidency”. It appears that he’s reading the polls as I am, and they are showing him losing ground. Unfortunatley (for Kerry), he isn’t relating his negativity to the dip.

Then there’s the Viet Nam junk (the nice word). Bush has the decency and character to commend Kerry on his “honorable service” and to even go as far as to say Kerry’s service was more commendable than his. I mean, such accolades would normally encounter a “thank you” and the same to you. But, not from the Kerry camp!

Wednesday morning on the Imus show Kerry said the book, Unfit For Command, was a pack of lies- and he had not read it! Say what?

Meanwhile CBS said that they would have a significant statement on the “Memo-Gate” around noon, then around 3:00, and finally 5:00. Nothing came of any of those three deadlines. It seems CBS can’t get anything right these days, and it seems they are joining Kerry in that smelly pit called DESPERATION! We shall see.

A HURRICANE BY ANOTHER NAME

September 14, 2005

Everyone has their eyes on IVAN! More than 1.2 million people have been warned to evacuate New Orleans and another half million along the Mississippi, Alabama, Florida Panhandle coasts. One of my favorite places to play tennis (on clay courts) just might be the bulls eye of Ivan: Point Clear, Alabama.

But, while all eyes are on IVAN, there’s a lady building to the East of Florida by the name of Jeanne. She’s only a tropical storm now, but may just be #3 to hit Florida in 2004. But, there’s even a bigger STORM coming!

Two weeks from tomorrow, September 30th, the biggest WIND to hit Florida this year slams into Coral Gables and it will command the attention of the entire world. I am talking about the first presidential debate between Bush and Kerry. Do you have it on your calenders?

Forget the Swiftboat Veterans, the Truth For Texans, and the CBS fiasco, we’ve got the real deal blowing into Florida in two weeks. Just when Florida thought it was safe to go back to their homes, here comes the BIG ONE! :-)

WE AREN’T QUITE THERE YET!

September 14, 2005

Almost everyone knows that America is becoming increasingly more secular and definitely less Christian; however, we’re a long way from establishing ATHEISM as our national religion! The BLUE states are still out numbered by the RED! Continue Reading »

WHO LET THE DOGS OUT: WHO, WHO?

September 14, 2005

The junk-yard dogs are on the prowl: they’ve been turned loose. If you think you know the nature of attack dogs, then you’ll recognize what’s happening in the political landscape currently.

I knew when it became public that James Carville came on staff with John Kerry that it was going to get rough & tumble. The old “Ragin Cajun” is one tough cookie who doesn’t care what anyone thinks or what the “Queen’s rules” are.

After having their first attack (CBS story) shot down, out they come again with the “Favored Son” theme. Forget whatever Clinton thought Kerry should do, Kerry’s hit-men are in action. Almost all polls (maybe not CBS) are showing Bush firming up his states, getting stronger in those toss-up states (Florida, Ohio, Iowa, and New Mexico), and actually causing Kerry to squirm that he might lose a couple of his base states (Minnesota, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania).

Maybe the “attacks” are just a sign of desperation in the Kerry camp. Who needs to knows WHY when you know WHO?

THE WATER IS FILLED WITH BLOOD

September 13, 2005

It only takes a couple of drops of blood for the sharks to take notice and rush to the feeding (killing) zone. Like a boxer who is bleeding from the nose, eye brows, and cheek bones, the adversary simply starts pounding away with rabid ferocity. And it seems that George Bush is the bleeding fighter on the political ropes. Continue Reading »

TALK ABOUT DAY AND NIGHT!

September 12, 2005

Unless my memory has really deserted me quickly, it was just last week that mayor Ray Nagin (New Orleans) told the world that his police department was exhausted after ten days of really trying circumstances. So, he was sending them to las Vegas to rest up and get their heads back together again. Continue Reading »

THE BIG THREE – A NEW TRINITY?

September 12, 2005

With the way Dan Rather (CBS) keeps going, the big three will soon be the big two (NBC-ABC). But, I am talking about another trinity that seems to be evolving that could change our lives dramatically over the next four years.

As we get closer to November 2, we’re seeing some patterns develop in the way the candidates are advertising and campaigning. Many of the pre-Labor Day strategies are going out the window: particularly among the Democrats, who had hoped to expand the electoral base.

Unless there is something BIG that we don’t see on the horizon (and that’s probably a good bet), you can count on three states getting the greatest attention over the next six weeks. Three states are in a position to decide who will be president. These three states have 68 electoral votes!

The biggest and most hotly contested is Florida (27) where most polls show the race at a dead heat: 47%-47%. Next comes Ohio (21) where polls differ, giving 1-2% leads for one or the other candidates. And finally we have Pennsylvania, (20) where Bush has a 1-2% lead. Watch for most of the news stories to come out of thee three states as that is where the candidates will camp out more increasingly.

Now that we have the political logic, I wonder what the real story really will be? Maybe the debates will hold the key, maybe UBL, maybe Iraq, but, certainly not the Swift Boat Veterans or the Texans For Truth- right?

AMERICA AFTER KATRINA!

September 11, 2005

Katrina affected more than just the Gulf Coast and new Orleans. New Orleans will never be the same again. The CITY was dying before Katrina as evidenced by the population drop from 630,000 in 1960 to 469,000 before Katrina hit. And it’s probably a good guess that less than 250,000 will return to the CITY. Obviously the SMSA was over a million, but even that may be under a million a year from now. Continue Reading »

THE OTHER CONVENTION!

September 10, 2005

Friday, I commented on the “other election” which comes up in October: Afghanistan. So, let me spend Saturday’s efforts on the “other convention”. I am talking about the 9-11 mini convention that runs from Thursday to Sunday: at least.

There will be specials, testimonials, memorials, and you name it- all weekend. All of this just keeps the terrorism thoughts on the minds of the electorate. It just seems that Kerry can’t get any domestic traction!

Add to that the CBS, whatever you want to call it, story on George Bush in the Guard, and you’ve got a real distraction- if you’re John Kerry. It seems that some discrepancy is added each hour or so. Are the papers forged? Why is Ben Barnes daughter saying her dad’s lying? Why is the ex-wife and son of the man who supposedly signed off on the Bush papers saying they don’t believe he wrote them?

Of course the man who signed the papers is dead, so he can’t speak for himself. I have no clue as to the veracity of the documents but this I do know, someone is going to have egg on their faces!

And I also know that this weekend “mini-convention” and the CBS fiasco keeps Kerry from making his points at a critical time when he needs to. Oh yes, and then there’s Ivan. Can’t a guy get a break? Must a presidential hopeful have to contend with a hurricane every week? Sounds like a question most Floridians are asking.

IT’S ABOUT MORE THAN MARDI GRAS

September 10, 2005

On the one hand I was amazed to read that many city officials were planning on getting the French Quarter back up and running in 90 days and doing a mini-Mardi Gras. But, realizing this is New Orleans, what else could one expect? Continue Reading »

THE “OTHER” ELECTION

September 9, 2005

I guess you have heard by now that 30 of 35 nations would prefer Kerry over Bush for president. Well, that should cinch it for Bush. The minute the “world” is wanting us to submit to Paris or Berlin for our ‘marching’ orders, you can forgetdaboutit!

So, while the world is focused on THE election that comes up in just under two months (Nov. 2), I’d like to remind everyone about the election that happens in just one month. I am taking Afghanistan! There is a whole lot going on between now and Nov. 2.

UBL’s right hand man was seen on TV throughout the world telling everyone how the U.S. was being routed in Afghanistan. According to him the country is now back in the hands of the Taleban. Wrong! I am sure that there was some sort of coded message to the world of terrorists in his message. However, you can expect a lot
of terrorist acts in the next thirty days- in Afghanistan. Come to think of it, ANYWHERE in the world!

Back in the war zone here in America, the Democrats are on the attack. Did you know Bush was a deserter, AWOL, didn’t fulfill his obligations, and was a liar? Oh yes, and did you know that the CBS 60 Minute program that brought all this to light was using papers they found from a man, who died more than a decade ago, and who’s son doesn’t believe his dad would have written such stuff?

Hey, the “other” election may be in 30 days, but we’ve got 54 more days of hell right here in OUR election. :-)

WHO KNOWS THE NUMBERS?

September 9, 2005

If you have been following the events on the Gulf Coast as a result of Katrina, and who hasn’t, you have heard about ever imaginable figure as possible. One of the most loudly proclaimed numbers has been the death count. And from the beginning the press of course wanted people to “take a guess”; give us something sensational to run with. And many did. And the estimated number of deaths was north of 10,000. Continue Reading »

WE’RE IN THE RED ZONE NOW!

September 8, 2005

In football, you are in the RED ZONE when you get within the 20 yard line. That means, gaining additional yardage is going to get a lot tougher. I think the Red Zone in football is the same as Bush being ahead in the polls within the two month time frame of the election. It’s getting really UGLY inside that red zone now. If you thought it was ugly before….how about this.

Today was what Drudge called “Big Media Day” against George Bush. Many liberal newspapers were going back to the ‘Bush was AWOL in the National Guard’ story. And, Dan Rather was interviewing Ben Barnes who got Bush into the Guard. Ahh, but those were just warm up shots ahead of the old 1-2 punch later on Wednesday.

Al Gore (Howard Dean’s screaming mate), claimed that Bush had a religious bent that aligned with Islam. Baptist(?) Gore claimed that Bush was a “vengeance & brimstone” religious kind of a guy. Let’s see now. A Baptist is calling a Methodist, a fundamentalist? I have to think this one through again. Is Gore really a Baptist?

Oh yes, and then the newly recruited attack dog, James Carville, claimed that the Republicans must have DRUGGED Zell Miller before his media appearance last week. The “Crazy Cajun” calling Zell WILD? I guess I need to look up the defintion of wild again while I’m looking for Baptist.

Anyway, it’s “red-meat” time and we’re in that RED ZONE where banging heads is the least thing that’s done. As you line up, you can hear the opponent call you and your mother about every conceivable name in and out of the dictionary. Maybe we should just ignore it and play football! Speaking of which, GO TEXANS! This Sunday it’s time to play FOOTBALL!

PILE ON AND FALL BACK!

September 7, 2005

For a good week now I have heard the Katrina Bush Bashing grow louder. There’s no doubt that when the water of this storm recedes, the State and Local government will shoulder 90% of the blame. You can read my previous posts for the reasons why. Each day my thesis on the matter has been supported with more facts that have come to light; however, isn’t that the nature of things? Take a position and then find the facts to support your opinion.

I think every Democratic dog has now had his or her day at the Bush jaw-boning. It originally began with Ray Nagin and Kathleen Blanco starting the piling on. They are now too busy going at each other to focus on Bush. They have those Louisiana constituents to convince before the next election.

Then came the Kayne West tirade follwoed by Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson as of course the race card would have to be played. George Soros was next, then Nancy Pelosi and the whole of the Washington Democratic establishment. And the latest one to jump on the pile was Howard Dean. He’s losing his edge it appears. Why so late in coming to the feeding frenzy?

But you just can’t make piling on your game, so Hillary comes to the rescue with the Democratic fall back plan- RAISE TAXES! Now there’s a neat idea. Why hasn’t someone like Al Gore or John Edwards come forth with this idea before now?

My take? Get a life! Bush bashing hasn’t worked in five years and it’s not going to work now. Only 13% of the public blames Bush and they are probably all of the extreme left wing of the Democratic party. Trash the piling on and falling back to old cliches and formulas. Come up with some new and fresh ideas or all of the opportunities to gain seats next year will fizzle- again!

And while you’re at it, let’s not redo the whole city like it was before- not even the American public thinks that’s a good idea.
