REMEMBER THE $6M DOLLAR MAN?

January 31, 2006

It was in the mid seventies I believe when Col. Steve Austin (Lee Majors) played the role of the .$6 Million Dollar Man. That was before Alan Greenspan was heading up the Fed.: printing up paper as fast as he could.

If you don’t remember he or the show, don’t worry about it because I want to talk about the $26 Million Dollar Man. I’m talking about George Soros, the would-be play-maker of Democratic politics. Remember how he promised to spend his entire fortune (Billions) to defeat Bush last year. Somewhere along the road, he decided to spend just a miniscule amount.

He still thinks his $26 million that he threw at Kerry and Democratic causes was a good investment. Makes you wonder how he could ever have become wealthy if that’s his idea of a good investment.

While his effort was a good investment, he is now dishing Kerry as a flawed candidate. Really? And why does one throw millions at a flawed candidate? There are all kinds of ways to justify ones actions: Soros has his. But, don’t fret, he promises to be back in ‘06 and ‘08 with more of his millions. You’d think at 74, he would have learned a little more than he pretends.

A GOOD DAY FOR NUMBER 43!

January 31, 2006

I am not talking Super Bowl, Seahawks, or Steelers. I’m talking about the son of #41. Bush got his man and he can go for broke tonight in the State Of The Union speech. As expected the Senate pushed through, on an up and down vote (58-42), the 110th USSC Justice: Samuel Alito. For whoever might be counting, we now have FIVE Catholics on the USSC. Continue Reading »

DEMOCRATIC DENIALS GALORE

January 31, 2006

Probably the worst thing that has happened since the November election is the Iraqi elections of Sunday! The percentage turn-out of eligible voters was higher than our election. And they were threatened with their lives at every turn!

So the world is rejoicing! Well, most of the world. Two groups are not happy. The terrorists in the Middle East are not happy, and the Democrats here in America are not happy! In fact, the left-wingers of the Democratic party are in complete DENIAL.

Kennedy thinks America is part of the problem and not the solution. Me? I think he’s becoming senile. He’s always been off the charts with his Viet Nam comparisons; however, his latest rant is just, well, insane!

Then there is John Kerry who says that we should not OVERHYPE the elections! How could we begin to overhype it since it’s one of the greatest events to happen in the Arab world in a century! What JFK is saying is let’s not give the election too much attention because it will only help Bush. And, it could remind people of how wrong Kerry was on the issue.

I am afraid that it’s going to be a bad week for those Mass. Senators. On top of the successful Iraqi elcetions, Bush gives his State Of The Union Speech this Wednesday.

THE FIRST DAY IS OVER…..

January 30, 2006

Yesterday I did a review of the big events coming up this week: if you lived outside of Houston. In Houston it was Lay-mania! It’s as though nothing else is going on in the world except Ken Lay and more Ken Lay. Can you believe this trial will go on for up to four months? Four months! I’m spending no more than 3-5 minutes a day on it. Continue Reading »

AS PREDICTED - CNN BIAS LIVES ON!

January 29, 2006

I awoke this morning to the tried and true “expected headlines of the day”. Cynical, left-wing CNN led with the story that BOMBERS KILL 31 AT POLLS (see story to the left)! Is that really the story? Yes, it is THE story that CNN wants to push.

The real story? It appears that 72% of the people have gone to the polls throughout teh nation. It’s very early Sunday (here in Houston as I write), so all the details are not final; however, 71% represents a stunning number. In some Shiite areas, 90%+ have voted.

The story is that women can vote! The story is that people in the midst of dictatorships and Islamic theocracies, people had choices other than yes or no. The story is that for the first time in fifty years Iraqis got to experience “democracy”.

So, if you’re pessimistic about the war, down on the Bush administration, and only in to what social programs our government can give its citizens, read and listen to CNN!

LOOKS LIKE A FUN WEEK COMING UP

January 29, 2006

What was being billed back at the start of this year as the highlight to end January; now looks like the low-light. Yes Bush is going to speak this week. The State of The Union Address comes Tuesday, but what about all the other action? Continue Reading »

REMEMBERING FREEDOM AGAIN

January 28, 2006

There are 26,000 Iraqi-Americans living in the United States and they began voting today. There are only five locations in these 50 States of America where they could vote; however, that did not stop people. Some idividuals and families drove five to nine hours just to be able to vote! Who in America would do that? Three were from Houston, who had to travel all the way to Nashville, Tenn. to vote.

Some people jumped up and down after casting their ballot, danced in the hallways, and otherwise acted like they had found something so pleasant to their spirit and soul that they could not contain themselves. When’s the last time you walked out of a voting precinct, raised your fist in the air, and yelled at the top of your voice? Iraqis have now voted in fourteen nations, including “down under”- Australia.

All of the news affiliates will be there for the weekend and this you can be assured. CNN will be talking and showing all the difficulties, while Fox news sprinkles in some human interest and success stories along with the violence (fair and balanced). And Ted Turner wonders while CNN is getting trounced by Fox forcing him to put a Hitler reference on them?

Other things are going on in the world this weekend, but it is the vote in Iraq that could turn the tide of history- literally. Ahh, to remember what it is like to be FREE again. What could we do to impress all Americans of that fact, short of making everyone live in Iran, Iraq, or Syria for a year?

ENOUGH TALK- LET’S GO VOTE!

January 27, 2006

The election in Iraq reminds me of the election here in the U.S. last year: it seems that we’ve been hearing about it for years. Finally, we will have the event, in spite of increased terrorism, and we shall see just how the people of Iraq respond.

As I have said before, I believe a higher percentage of eligible Iraqis will vote this weekend, than voted here in America last November. While the death of so many young men is a tragedy (not to mention the severely wounded), what would be worse is to follow the Ted Kennedy plan and begin pulling our troops out.

The deeper question for me is whether a vastly Islamic nation can somehow embrace democracy, where State and Church are to be separate, and forsake what they have been taught all their life.

Forget the radical Muslims, the whole of Islam teaches that Allah should run the government: no democracy, but a theocracy! So, are we “converting” the Muslims in this one area, or are they just asking us to help them get on their feet so they can revert back to their roots.

I don’t know tht answer; however, what I do know is that we have no options. To tuck tail and run now would turn the country into anarchy, and eventually the capitol of terrorism. But I get ahead of myself. First things first. Let’s get this election over and see where we are once the dust settles.

THE ELITE & THE HAVE-NOTS

January 26, 2006

I thought that yesterday was an interesting one indeed. Two events pushed to the forefront of my mind as I pondered where all of this is going. We have HALF the world making less than $2 a day while in America we’re consummed second hand smoke, liter, and TV programming. Continue Reading »

A POLITICAL TECTONIC SHIFT?

January 26, 2006

Whoa Teddy, hold on John, watch out Howard, and be careful now Barbara, Bush is on the move to change the political landscape. The tremors are being felt and the Democratic party needs to be concerned lest they get wiped out in a Bush Tsunami! What am I saying?

Bush is making big in-roads into the black electorate and citizenry that could have lasting demographic consequences: none favorable to the Democrats. Several key black politicians came out swinging yesterday and today, defending Condi. I mean what are these liberals from the Northeast (particularly Mass.) doing banging on the head of a black woman? For shame!

And now Bush is meeting with about every black organization except the NAACP- and he’s getting their attention. Worse yet, he’s taking a end-around attack on the Social Security program. He has the black community’s attention about “Personalizing Social Security” (not Privitizing)
program. Why?

Blacks have a much lower mortality rate and they realize as the system is currently set up, their people will die and not see a dime of the money: in all actuality, they are funding the white crowd that lives long enough to collect!

And what about school vouchers that would allow African Americans to get out of low socioeconomic, down-trodden school systems which entrap them from the get-go.

Bottom line is that we could be seeing some tectonic plate movement in the political arena that would not be beneficial to the left-wing liberal portion of the Democratic party. And they are the ones making all the noise of course.

CRY BABIES & RUN AWAY TRAINS

January 25, 2006

I hate to see grown men cry and adult women bickering over things that cannot be changed: especially things that are in the past! I’ve lived by the sage who said, “Give me the courage to change what I can, the serenity to accept what I can’t, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

Ahh, but today we heard nine hours of debate on Condi Rice’s nomination: half that by those players I mentioned above. Teddy and Barbara, the Boxer, attacked the Iraq war, CIA, and anything and everything that Bush represented. You’d think Bush was running for Secretary of State.

One of the boxing bags that the liberal left have been up in arms about will be history a week from today, as the Iraqis go to the polls next Sunday. My bet is that they have a higher percentage of turnout than we do here in democratic America- under even the worst of conditions. Like in Afghanistan last year, when people experience freedom, they love it- even unto death.

And talk about your run-away trains. Ted Turner made the headlines again- those with which you don’t want to be associated. While in Vegas, probably after too many drinks, he compared Fox News to Hitler. Of course he was doing it objectively. Don’t let the fact that Fox is trouncing his CNN; that has nothing to do with anything.

A RUN-AWAY FINANCIAL TRAIN?

January 25, 2006

While the Senators bloviate round the clock at the Capitol, the real world is not paying any attention. Will they or will they not filibuster; will they or will they not stall until Tuesday? Continue Reading »

A MILLION HERE- A BILLION THERE!

January 24, 2006

You ever feel like no matter how much money you make, it’s not going to be enough to pay the bills? Then there are those that have won a multi-million dollar lottery and been broke in a couple of years. It seems making a lot of money means nothing, money is just not a motivator these days.

Take the bin Laden reward of $25 million that hasn’t attracted any good leads. So, this week, America will up that to $50 million. I wonder where in Afghanistan one could find the kind of malls that would attract a mullionaire. It’s just money.

This week Bush will ask Congress for another $80 BILLION, not million, to fight the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Much like the Condi Rice interrogation, once everyone has had their smash-mouth statments delivered, they’ll vote for the funding.

And today, we find out that the Central Banks are starting to put their securities in Euros, transferring out of US$s. You see, Greenspan and the U.S. Mint are acting more like it’s Vegas, where chips are just plastic- not real money. Need more? Just make them!

Because in America, millions and billions are just fractions of trillions; and nobody knows what that means or amounts to.

ON TO THE SENATE FLOOR FOR SAM

January 24, 2006

As I had written this past Sunday, I projected a 10-8 committee vote (which did happen today) and then a 58-42 Senate floor vote. Tomorrow the trash-talking gets into high gear: from the Senate floor. Continue Reading »
