WHAT’S THE BIG NEWS MONDAY?
January 15, 2006
Walter Cronkite has signed in on his thoughts about Iraq and it is that America should get out of Iraq now. Now! I’m not sure how much clout he has at 89, but it really doesn’t matter as long as Bush is president. Continue Reading »
AND NOW THE REST OF THE STORY
January 14, 2006
Paul Harvey is the one who gets credit for the caption today. Anyone who has been around the block a couple of times would recognize his trademark line.
Last week I vented my displeasure with the Indonesian government’s demand that the U.S. get out Dodge by the end of March. Restrictions were put on our military and workers, and the U.S. S. Lincoln had to move out into the Indian Ocean to fly the mandatory exercises for its pilots.
We all know that Indonesian rebels have resented the U.S., and we also know that Indonesia is the most populous Muslim nation in the world. So, with our invasion of Iraq, it’s no wonder this Muslim nation resents us; however, let’s look at what the real deal is.
Friday, Dien Syamsuddi, Secretary-General of the Indonesian Council of religious scholars warned the U.S. of proselytizing any Indonesian citizens. Aha! Now we know why they want us out of Dodge. They can’t stand the comparisons that could be made between their dictatorial and harsh rule, and America’s freedom and love.
It’s not the Iraq invasion that bothers Indonesian Muslims, it’s the attack of Afghanistan and the toppling of the Taleban that scares them. It’s one thing to talk about the evil U.S. It’s another to see the U.S. military and aid workers up close and personal, loving, caring, and serving.
And that’s the rest of the story!
WHO IS KEEPING THE RECORDS?
January 13, 2006
I was a history major in college so I remember and understand sixty five year old sentiments. I am also aware that ten years ago, I was typing on a machine called a typewriter. And I was constantly slipping a white piece of paper between the keys and the mistaken print on paper.
The Bible warns us that we need to remember and pass on to our children all the wonderful things that God has done. And then there’s a philosopher whom I can’t name who said, “All you need to do to destroy a society is to leave a generation without the ability to read for forty years.
Well, we may be coming close to creating that generation that can’t read; however, that’s not the main point of my comment today.
Britain is in an uproar because twenty year old Prince Harry wore a Nazi uniform to a party. The incident is just more proof that the younger generation does not have a clue about the past. Winston Churchill would have turned over in his grave had he seen the front pages of the London Times yesterday. Does anyone remember how many Brits were murdered by the incessant German bombing?
Unfortunately most teens and young marrieds today have little knowledge or appreciation for history, and therefore they (and we) are bound to repeat history as well. We take for granted that our schools are teaching our chilren history; however, what history is being taught is mainly revisionist in nature. So, if we will not teach our kids, who will: and what is it that they will teach them?
You’d think Prince Harry would have had an excellent education. Think again.
HATEFUL POLITICS NOTWITHSTANDING
January 12, 2006
The drama on Wednesday was a major confrontation between Kennedy and Specter. At the end of the day Kennedy won in that Specter allowed a subpoena to check the CAP records. But in the early hours of Thursday (2 am to be exact), absolutely nothing was found to incriminate Alito, In fact, they couldn’t even find his name anywhere! So Specter comes out on top. WHERE’S RODNEY DANGERFIELD?
January 12, 2006
It seems America just can’t get any respect! Yes, Rodney Dangerfield was one of the many Hollywood stars to exit this world in 2004; however, he seems to be getting more respect in death than we are in life.
I know every nation has the right to their own self determination and sovereignity, but there is something called “good manners”. America has been the leading source of financial support to Indonesia after the tsunmi, particularly when you consider logistics. It’s been the American planes, helicopters, and ships that have been first on the scene with food and help. Did I mention BILLIONS of dollars in cash as well?
On Wednesday though the Indonesian government said they wanted our troops out of their nation in 60 days, set up rules for our soldiers carrying rifles, and told our aircraft carrier (USS Lincoln) that we couldn’t fly jets off it’s deck. So, our aircraft carrier, off the Indonesian shores, must head out into the Indian ocean so out pilots can practice (it’s a rule a pilot must practice at least every fourteen days).
Ex-cuuuse us!
Maybe we should just drop the money off at the nearest beach, and go back about our business. Maybe we should quit raising money. Maybe we should not back the debt postponement that’s being offered their government while in this crisis. Ahh, but if we did that, we’d be like THEM- and God knows we’re not!
FROM ONE EXTREME TO ANOTHER!

Tuesday was the day of the Lamb and Wednesday was the day of the Lion. I’m not talking about some Chinese New Year. I’m talking about the USSC Senatorial lynchings. Continue Reading »
DUMB & NOT GETTING SMARTER!
January 11, 2006
I’m sure that you’ve heard about, if not seen, the movie, Dumb & Dumber. Well, Jim Carrey is no where to be seen, but don’t let that fool you. The recent tragedy in Southeast Asia (the Tsunami) is proof that we’re not getting any smarter.
Have you heard of all the reasons that primarily the Muslim world is offering for the cause of the tsunami? I am sure you could guess that Bush is the main reason for the tragedy: he gets as much blame as Satan. Then there is the theory that the U.S. and India were conducting underground electromagnetic tests. Somehow that caused the tsunami though no reasonable explanation is given: how could there be?
One of the most recent revelations is a satellite picture that shows swirling whitewater hitting a beach in Sri Lanka. The white foam and swirling waters supposedly spells out the name ALLAH, in Arabic. You could have fooled me since I don’t recognize Arabic letters. If this true (wink-wink), then Bush is absolved since it’s proof that Allah is upset with the people for not obeying his laws. Right!
I know, those Muslims should never had let all those Westerners come there and SIN on their beaches: drinking, smoking, and prostitution. And of course all of this is all confirmed by the Koran which says in one place, “…people can be punished through water or through fire.” There you go!
And you thought Muslims and other religions weren’t progressing or getting smarter- Silly you!
A FLAWED CULTURE CONFIRMED
January 10, 2006
The long-awaited decisions came down at CBS yesterday. An honest mistake some said, myopic zeal said others, and not enough professional journalism was the conclusion from others.
The net result was that Mary Mapes lost her job, others were asked to resign (or else), and Dan Rather has egg all over his face as he continues “some” CBS duties after he steps down as the CBS Evening News anchor in two months. The whole incident will still carry his name : Rathergate!
Now for what was NOT said, but I think understood by CBS head honcho- Leslie Moonves. CBS is just the tip of the elite news icebarg. It’s been known for decades that the Big Three and all other major News Services have a 90-10 liberal conservative bent. No one is challenging a person’s right to their political pursuasion; however, when it causes a person to do their job with prejudice, it’s wrong.
There is a culture, a leaven, in our society that isn’t just growing at the news agencies, it’s rapidly multiplying in all those BLUE states. It’s called SECULARISM! And when it comes to the foundational and character issues of our society, it’s not good. In essence, what was confirmed yesterday at CBS was not just about CBS, but a heads-up to our nation that our belief systems are becoming seriously flawed.
ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES
January 10, 2006
Few people elected Bush in 2000 with the thought in mind that we would go to war in Afghanistan and Iraq, let alone see the Twin Towers toppled. I for one believe things would have been done greatly different under Gore. Just how, is totally speculative. Stuff happens and you hope the best men and women in our nation have been elected to handle it. Continue Reading »
THE COST OF STAYING FREE!
January 9, 2006
What do we do if Iran persists in developing nuclear weapons? We all know N. Korea is more bark than bite, but what if they start something with their neighbors to the South? There are a half dozen other “what-ifs” that could expose our achilles heel.
And just what would that be? For the last 30 years, and particulary the decade of the 90′s when Clinton was president 80% of the time, America has been cutting back on our military programs and pouring money into social entitlements. In just one dacade we dropped from 18 divisions to just ten.
The active-duty army during the Vietnam war (1968) was 1.5 million. Today we have about 1/3rd of that (480,000) strung out from Afghanistan to Korea, and from Iraq to Bosnia. And it takes another 175,000 Marines just to keep Iraq from spiraling out of control.
So, where does Bush, America, we, go from here? The draft is out, right? Does anyone think our plight is not known by the other world powers? Can we actually cut the federal deficit in half? Will the BLUE states go much longer without more entitlements? And will the American public finally decide to retreat within and only be concerned with their own needs?
The cost of staying free could get even more expensive than it now appears.
WHAT IS GOLD TELLING US?
January 9, 2006
I have been recommending gold coins and gold stocks for 4 years now! Nothing goes straight up; however, there is a point where the public begins to SEE the move and when they jump it, it takes off like a rocket. Continue Reading »

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING!
January 8, 2006
I am so glad that the 2004 election is over. Soon though, we can begin to start talking about the ’06 off election year! And I wonder just what will be the hot topics? With the Iraq elections over, the Palestinian elections complete, and many of our troops beginning to return home, we’re going to have to fnd something really major and serious. Maybe we can revist the flu-shot issue that took center stage and a lot of print as the election got near.
Remember the outrage?
Members of Congress we getting flue shot but 90 year old great grandmothers were not. Bush stepped up and said he’d forgo a shot this year. How could the Bush administration be so neglectful and expose our elder citizens to the ravages of the flu? Where was the planning when we needed it?
Well, maybe another issue. You see, it now appears that between three and six million flu shots will go unused this season. We have an over abundance of flu shots just going wasted.
Ahh, there’s the ticket. How about the poor planning that led to the ten of millions of wasted tax payer money because we had too many of the shots available? I bet Kerry could make this a center piece of his next campaign since he’s so good at being on both sides of the issue at the same time.
BECOMING A SOCIALISTIC NATION
January 6, 2006
Unfortunatley America is following Great Britian and other socialist nations down the road of economic ruin. Immigrants who are flooding our shores with a desire for citzenship are finding it’s not as easy to get rich, or keep what you make, as it used to be.
Once again the proof of America’s economic demise was reported in the annual Economic Freedom Index. Some 155 nations are surveyed in 50 different economic variables that have to do with economic freedom. In 2004, America dropped out of the top ten: dropping from 9th to 12th place.
America ranks 112th (out of 155) in the severity of taxation of it’s corporations. And we’ve only begun. If the liberals had their way, the Corporate tax would be doubled. You have to increase those enitlements you know.
Only seventeen nations of the 155 are deemed FREE. At the other end of the scale, twelve are deemed REPRESSED, with the remaining 126 somewhere in between: coveing three different shades of free or not free.
I see no a way of turning it around. America’s great days (economically speaking) are over. Too many people expect-demand too many services, and their numbers are growing. Unfortunately one day the BLUE states will have greater sway than the RED states: pobably sooner than we think.
So, get it while you can because the getting is much harder, and the holding even more stringent.
