Strategy Or Con?
October 15, 2006
I’ve mentioned this before; however, the press is now making a story of it. The question is “which story” is the “real story“? I mentioned last week that Bush seemed oblivious to the fact that there was an election down the road. He’s not running around the nation as he had in 2004, but then he’s not running for an office either. When he calls a news conference there’s nothing new, nothing exciting said. It’s as though Bush thinks he’ll have a Republican House and Senate for the last two years of bis presidency. Will he? Continue Reading »
No Momentum Here!
October 14, 2006
In Virginia the once presidential aspirations of Senator Allen have turned into a survival mode to keep his Senate seat. George Allen (R) has seen his 6% lead slowly dwindle down to a 3% lead over James Webb (D). This would be a big blow for the Republicans, particularly since it looks like incumbent Senator, Rick Santorum (R) next door in Pennsylvania hasn’t a snowballs’ chance in hell in keeping his seat. Republicans have given up on Rick and have made no advertising commitments in the last three weeks to hold that seat. Continue Reading »
Familiarity Breed Contempt
October 14, 2006
It happens to nearly all of us. I’ve been there. I have to work to stay away from there. It looks like the Republicans are camping there. Where is there? It’s the place where after enjoying the good life for an extended period of time, one begins to take it for granted and incompetency, even shabby contempt becomes the lifestyle. The Republican “revolution” of 1994 under the direction of Newt Gingrich, swept the Republican party into office in all but the office of president. That had to wait until 2000. With three+ weeks to go it looks as though the Republican parties party is over. Continue Reading »
Acquire A Strong Work Ethic
October 13, 2006
My mother used to tell me over and over again as a child that if I ever wanted to be a success, I just needed to get a good education and work hard. Today, we have people with all kinds of degrees and certificates and they live in poverty all of which points out that my mother was right, because no matter the education and intelligence, without HARD WORK, you’re going nowhere. And, in today’s digital cyberspace world, work in terms of sweat or effort is harder to acquire or understand. What’s so hard about typing in front of a monitor? Serendipity and luck are still in the equation but they play a very small role. Continue Reading »
Stop Bleeding?
October 13, 2006
Tennessee is now back in the “toss up” category and Rep. Harold Ford is now just two points ahead of Bob Corker. What that means is that for the first time in two weeks, the Republicans have seemed to stopped the political bloodshed. Have they turned it around? It’s too early to tell that. Continue Reading »
Mud Slinging
October 12, 2006
We’re still nearly a month out from the election and the verbal insults are now hitting below the belt. Can you imagine how bad this is going to get over the next three weeks? Just when you thought the “pagegate” story was going to be the down-n-dirty stuff, along comes some historical payback stories. The proble with showing off someones dirty laundry is that you open yourself up to the same scrutiny, even if it goes back a couple of decades. Continue Reading »
2006 Poll Rasmussen
October 11, 2006
The latest Rasmussen reports and showing a slow but steady movement to the blue status! With a little less than a month to go the Republicans are taking it on the chin, and everywhere else. Here’s a couple of examples. Continue Reading »
Pennsylvania Pain
October 11, 2006
If there is a state that is indicative of what’s happening nationwide, it’s probably Pennsylvania. And it’s not good news for Republicans. Bob Casey Jr. (D) continues to increase his lead over incumbent Republican Rick Santorum (50% to 37%). You can almsot mail this one in. Continue Reading »
An Enemy Of The People
October 10, 2006
Two things caught my attention today. One was the continuing Kim Jong-il story and the other one came out of Dubai via a videotape. We all know the Kim Jong-il is, well, ill! He is an enemy of the people- his own people. The citizens of North Korea (as I reported two days ago) have the most harsh life there is on the planet. When one enters N. Korea from any direction it’s like going back in time, a time warp if you will. Carts are drawn by horses, women and children carry bundles, the people move slowly, there is little vegetation, and there is little color in the land- or life. Continue Reading »
Page-Gate!
October 10, 2006
My how things can turn on a dime, or shall we say on a page scandal. Everywhere you look there is blood running in the Republican races. What was shaping up to be a “hold the fort” effort on behalf of the GOP has turned into an abandon the fort cry! Close races have now disappeared the Democrats are running away with the roses. Continue Reading »
US Mexican Border
October 9, 2006
Bush has to be happy. The page scandal has been moved off of the front page. There was other news to start the week. North Korea got top billing, but did they really set off a nuclear explosion or was it just a lot of TNT that they blew up? I am sure the U.S. will play the card as big as they can. Milk it baby! Does anyone think that the UN will do anything? What a joke! In addition to their normal incompetencies, the UN is trying to select a successor to Kofi. Guess who is the main player? He’s from South Korea of all things. It seems as though Kim Jong-il can’t win for losing. Continue Reading »

ETF Gold
October 9, 2006
Gold should be helped this week by Kim Jong-il and North Korea. If that doesn’t keep gold up, then the fact that OPEC is considering dropping production, thus raising gasoline prices and inflation, should do the trick. But, what’s up with this gold ETF stuff? Continue Reading »
Korean North Refugee
October 8, 2006
North Korea news sources keep saying to expect an undeground nuclear test. At the same time we hear that they will not test a nuclear bomb that’s capable of killing 200,000, if America will “come talk“. A North Korea nuclear weapon of some sort has been at the forefront of news for a year now. This was to be the big weekend. Would they or wouldn’t they? Is Kim Jong-il a fruit cake or a serious player. What we do know for sure is that living inside North Korea is a hell here on earth. Continue Reading »
