Waiting In The Green Room?

May 15, 2007

Remember that song wherein you find the phrase, “What’s going on behind the green door?” The big news is not that neaerly a dozen Republican candidates will debate (is that what you call these evetns?) tonight in South Carolina, but who is NOT there that very well may be before the dust settles on our choices for president in November 2008. There are three that are getting as much attention, if not more, than those who will show up tonight. Continue Reading »

Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, and Mitt Romney are the three front runners so far in the field of “declared candidates“. But, the whispers are growing about three “undeclared candidates”.  Fred Thompson and Newt Gingrich have people second-guessing; however, the 800 pound gorilla on the potential political stump box is Michael Bloomberg, and here is why.

New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg is prepared to spend an unprecedented $1 billion of his own $5.5 billion personal fortune for a third-party presidential campaign, personal friends of the mayor tell The Washington Times.  “He has set aside $1 billion to go for it,” confided a long-time business adviser to the Republican mayor. “The thinking about where it will come from and do we have it is over, and the answer is yes, we can do it.”

ONE BILLION! :-)

“Bloomberg is H. Ross Perot on steroids,” said former Federal Election Commission Chairman Michael Toner. “He could turn the political landscape of this election upside down, spend as much money as he wanted and proceed directly to the general election. He would have resources to hire an army of petition-gatherers in those states where thousands of petitions are required to qualify a third-party presidential candidate to be on the ballot.”

The Bloomberg team is studying the strategies of Mr. Perot, the Texas billionaire whose 1992 presidential campaign helped President Clinton to win the White House with 43 percent of the popular vote.

“Mike has been meeting with Ross Perot’s most senior people about how they did an independent run in 1992,” the Bloomberg business adviser said on condition of anonymity so as to avoid appearing to speak for Mr. Bloomberg.

So, how important is this debate tonight? Not much at all!  :-)

Be An Over Achiever

May 14, 2007

People can generally be classified into two broad categories: the HAVE’S and the HAVE NOTS! It is interesting to see HOW they got to that position. Of course, where you START in life is always an important factor. Inheriting a fortune really gives a person a good head start though it certainly is not an indicator as to where one will ultimately finish. How one will finish is greatly dependent upon a word and a warning that is found in the Bible quite often. It centers around two terms: slothful and sluggard. Now, no one would want to fit into either category but unfortunately many do. Let’s examine this concept. Continue Reading »

Farmers Branch

May 13, 2007

The nation’s first vote on an ordinance targeting illegal immigrants by barring them from renting apartments highlighted a resentment of the federal government’s failure to secure the nation’s borders – and a desire to do something about it at the local level saw this Texas town do something that just might catch on across the rest of Texas and America. What Terror Plot?

May 10, 2007

The Fort Dix Six? What in the world are you talking about? That’s pretty much how the main stream press has been handling what could have been a massive terror attack on one of our military bases. Of course the liberal press has to play it down because you don’t want people to think that there is any sort of threat against the United States now do you? Surely not! The Democrats have the anti-war drums going hot and heavy. Let’s not slow down the parade to defeat! Continue Reading »

The Problem With Success

May 9, 2007

Not everyone knows what the problems are that are associated with success: many have never been successful! I’m going to go with the generic application for the word success. Psychologists tell us that when a goal-oriented person attains the goal, they are no longer goal-oriented (at least for that one accomplishment). However, apathy can set in once a person makes their goals or attains some. Here’s how I see this as a problem for George Bush. Continue Reading »

SNAP-POP, But When?

May 7, 2007

That financial rubber band has been stretched so far, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near the stock market when it snaps, and snap it will indeed. At the end of the day Monday, the Dow set yet another historical high. What’s new? The Dow has been setting new records every day for so long, most people that all the stock market does is GO UP! Up, up and away Dow! Ahh, but history shows that’s not how it works and a three digit zinger awaits those who think otherwise. Continue Reading »

Synergize & Network

May 7, 2007

There are few principles that man generally understands, agrees with, and then goes off and does the opposite of this principle. It cannot be violated! Synergy is a fairly new word to out vocabulary. From a business standpoint, franchising has ushered this concept into the layman’s vocabulary. Ray Kroch, the founder of McDonalds probably was not aware of what he was doing when he bought into the hamburger concept back in the 50’s, but once the original red and white units with the golden arches started to add up the number of hamburgers sold, and MILLIONS turned into BILLIONS, synergy was in vogue! And as Aesop said, “United we stand and divided we fall.” Continue Reading »

Should We Post A Fox Alert?

May 5, 2007

I’m not talking about FoxNews; rather, I referencing the possible need to protect the chickens. Is there a fox in the chicken coop? Could it be that the United States has been “taken”- in Iraq? Surely no one would believe anything like that in Iraq. Then is the Prime Minister or Iraq just simply imcompetent and not capable of doing the job? A recent report raises some disturbing questions. Straight Up Usually Means What?

May 2, 2007

I have been totally amazed at how the stock market has been shooting skyward like there is no atmosphere, there are no risks, there are no loses, and the heavens are the limit. Whatever goes up has to come down; however, that which goes straight up usually has and pendulum free fall follow up. I’d be so very, very wary of this BUBBLE that now exists in varied securities. God only knows what may happen, but rest assured of this. This BUBBLE is about to BURST! Continue Reading »

Backatcha

May 2, 2007

Four years to the day after standing on the deck of an aircraft carrier and declaring “major combat operations” in Iraq were over, President Bush on Tuesday vetoed a war-spending bill that calls for the start of a withdrawal of American combat troops from the conflict. “It makes no sense to tell the enemy when you plan to start withdrawing. All the terrorists would have to do is mark their calendars. … Setting a deadline for withdrawal is setting a date for failure, and that would be irresponsible,” Bush said in a televised address after the veto.
