Yet Another Website?
July 12, 2007
Many people would classify this as an addiction. I’ve lost track of how many websites and therein is one reason for yet one more to put down my thoughts and share with whomsoever will. When I get a thought (and I do quite often), I synthesize and assimilate that thought by writing it down somewhere. Thoughts on current affairs, culture, religion, philosophy, gold, elections, or immigration have to have a place of landing. Some thoughts visit me daily and I write daily on those sites. Some are hot topics that I write on when they’re hot, such as IMMIGRATION was two weeks ago. And while I have a web site on ELECTIONS, there’s an area that I feel needs more specificity: and voila, here it is! Bottom line is that if Bloomberg doesn’t run, this site won’t be all that appealing. But if he does!!!! Continue Reading »
The Two Tragedies Of Life
July 11, 2007
The first one we all know about- it’s when we don’t get what we want. We work hard, save, build up our 401k programs and then the company goes bankrupt (can you say Enron?). Stuff happens in life that we cannot control. I know that violates our ego, but get over it- it’s gonna happen regardless of how you feel. ANd then there’s that seecond great tragedy of life. You know, when we GET what we want and find out we really, really didn’t want it! Can you say MARRIAGE? Well, ponder this for a moment fellow Democrats and erstwhile members of this Republic called America. Continue Reading »
Three Aircraft Carriers?
July 10, 2007
The U.S. navy has sent a third aircraft carrier to its Fifth Fleet area of operations, which includes Gulf waters close to Iran, the navy said on Tuesday. “Enterprise (aircraft carrier) provides navy power to counter the assertive, disruptive and coercive behaviour of some countries, as well as support our soldiers and marines in Iraq and Afghanistan,” a U.S. Navy statement said. Tension over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions has raised regional fears of a military confrontation. Recent U.S. naval presence in the Gulf has been the largest since the 2003 Iraq war. Continue Reading »
Learning From History!
July 8, 2007
The prophets say that we can either learn from history or else we’re bound to repeat it. Everyone understands that the mood in Congress and our nation as a whole is ANTI WAR! That’s anti war until we’re attacked again! Then we’re pro war. Ho can anyone run a nation with people so fickle? It would just be the humor of the gods to have a Democrat win the presidency next year and then have us hit once more and suddenly the anti war Democrats are pro war. But ponder this. The Shame Of Society
July 6, 2007
Every nation, culture, religious bias, and society has those areas where we are blinded to our lack of compassion. Some areas are so subtle and obscure that we have a hard time seeing the shame with our natural vision. Then there are other circumstances that are so obvious you wonder how such traditions can endure. One such example is found in India where some 40,000,000 widows are shunned by society and put out to pasture to die, cast off by their own natural children and loved ones. How can we let this happen in today’s world? Maybe it’s because most of the world is really not aware of what I’m about to share with you. Continue Reading »
Bloomberg & Rudy!
July 5, 2007
If New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg jumps into the presidential race as an independent, it might not be good news for his predecessor – Rudolph Giuliani, according to a new poll.
“If Mayor Bloomberg runs as an independent, he takes more votes from Giuliani, making the three-way race too close to call,” said Clay F. Richards, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
Even with Bloomberg not in the race, the Quinnipiac poll results show a tighter race than a previous Quinnipiac poll in April, which had Giuliani leading with 49 percent, versus 40 percent for Clinton, a senator from New York.
A Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind poll released in June also showed Clinton and Giuliani garnering the most support among New Jersey voters.
If Giuliani were to become the GOP nominee for president, he might look to New Jersey as a place to pick up electoral votes that have gone to Democrats in recent elections.
New Jersey hasn’t supported a Republican for president since 1988. But the new poll has 61 percent of the state’s voters holding a favorable view of Giuliani, higher than any other presidential contender.
Prefer Others Over Self
July 4, 2007
“We judge OURSELVES by OUR MOTIVES and OTHERS by their ACTIONS”. Dwight Morrow
There is something in the fallen nature of man that wants to keep him there. Why would a sane person do something that would do harm to SELF. The EGO is far smarter than to do that except, except it does it. So, there must be something that is built in to our psyche that does push the “self-destruct” button. I believe that the “something” I am referring to has to do with the “instruction manual” as to how to “operate” that which we call our lives. Unless you believe we’re an accident, (in which case why you think as you do is obvious) you believe there was and is a PLAN for our existence. Continue Reading »
Not In Houston!
July 4, 2007
Instead of shooting fireworks, Houstonians are out buying material for the ark that needs to be built. How many days of rain can we have in a row? It looks like we’re trying to find that out. But elsewhere it’s another record that being established. The Fourth of July fireworks display billed as the nation’s biggest is trying to up this year’s oohs and aahs with a pyrotechnic novelty: exploding shells aimed at the water, not the sky. The Obvious Finally Happened
July 3, 2007
Is there anyone that thought that Scooter Libby would go to jail? Seriously! Of course Bush said that in so granting clemency, he was only preventing the 30 months of jail. Scooter would still have to pay the $250,000 in fines and face the two years of probation. Wow! But, does anyone think Scooter will personally pay the $250,000? Or would you bet that “friends of Scooter” (who are also friends of Bush-Cheney) would do it. I don’t know if it’s right or not, but I am aware of one thing. Hillary has been mum so far. Wonder why? Jihad Central?
July 2, 2007
Dr. Phares, director of the Future Terrorism Project at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, a visiting fellow at the European Foundation for Democracy and several books on the Islamic jihad against the West including the most recent “Future Jihad,” said that Britain “is one of the most intense battlefields for the jihadists, al Qaeda or not, in the whole European continent. Almost every July there has been either an attack or a foiled plot. Continue Reading »
