Bloomberg Inches Closer
December 31, 2007
I’ve been saying for more than a year now that Michael Bloomberg has the best chance of being elected President than anyone: which includes Hillary! And it’s about more than the fact that he can pour 1/2 to 1 BILLION of his money into the campaign! Of course that doesn’t hurt now does it? Continue Reading »
New Year Predictions
December 31, 2007
Every year most Americans make some crazy new year’s resolutions that are usually good for about thirty days- the first quarter at the outside. For some the new year will start tragically they won’t have lived but a few hours into the new year before being arrested for DWI or DUI. Worse yet some will die as a result of their injuries and lack of self control. What a waste of life- even if it wasn’t all that good from their vantage point. Continue Reading »
Happy New Year!
December 30, 2007
One more day to survive in 2007 and if we can make that short trip, then 2008 awaits us. May it be a year of new beginnings, exciting experiences, and full of close and intimate relationships!
Pocket Veto Possibilities
December 29, 2007
Can he or can’t he? Are they or aren’t they? Those are the questions. Can Bush authorize a pocket veto when the Senate is in session? And is the Senate really in session of not? Those are questions that will definitely have to be decided by the courts unless someone blinks between now and the end of the year. Continue Reading »
Gold Breaks Out
December 28, 2007
After 2-3 weeks of “trading-range” ITIS, gold has finally gotten some legs thanks to increased inflation and serious stuff going on in Pakistan. The US$ has tanked newarly 100 points in the last three days allowing gold to hit a new 1-month high. Gold rose to this fresh one-month high as safe-haven buying followed the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan, and as renewed dollar weakness boosted the metal’s appeal as an alternative investment. The US dollar is everywhere weaker as well. The assassination has raised fears that unrest in Pakistan may worsen and spread, fuelling the buying of gold as a haven. Gold has risend from the $805-$810 trading range to over $835 an ounce as we head to the weekend.
Benazir Bhutto assassinated
December 27, 2007
There are simply some people in this world who don’t want to live. Worse yet, there are people with such hatred that they don’t want “others” to live either. Worst of all, there are large groups of people who have gathered together to accomplish collectively what they can’t do individually. I’m not going to put any labels on this “face of hatred” for we all have our own opinions as to who the “bad guys” are. Continue Reading »
Francesca Lewis Odds?
December 27, 2007
So what are the odds that a 12-year-old US girl could be the sole survivor of a weekend plane crash in Panama that kills the three other passengers? Francesca Lewis beat those odds, whatever they were. Rescue workers struggled for five hours against heavy rains and high-altitude winds to carry Francesca by stretcher from the site of the plane crash of the Cessna 172, which happened Sunday about 430 kilometres west of the capital, Panama City. Hairline Cracks
December 26, 2007
It seems as though everywhere you look, things are beginning to fall apart. In most cases it’s just a little crack in the damn, a place where some light seems to be breaking through. And while it’s an omen for the status quo, it’s a good sign for an advancement in our civility and a movement away from what’s not working. We’re way over do for some sort of massive psyche earthquake, lest we kill ourselves off needlessly. Continue Reading »
Crucify Santa?
December 24, 2007
Say what? Who in the world would want to crucify Santa anyway? Just because we’ve seen and read stories this month about a Santa who was beaten and robbed and a Santa that had an adult woman sat on his lap and groped him, doesn’t mean we have to go over the top and crucify Santa! Continue Reading »
Global Warming Cool Down?
December 21, 2007
We know what Al Gore thinks. We know what Hollywood thinks. And we know what some mereorologists think. Can we get a word on the global warming debate from a scientists or two? How about, say 400 scientists? Yep, that’s not a typo- it’s FOUR HUNDRED scientists! Over 400 prominent scientists from more than two dozen countries recently voiced significant objections to major aspects of the so-called “consensus” on man-made global warming. Objections you say? Continue Reading »
Global Warming Stampede?
December 20, 2007
When someone forms an opinion in their heart, the head always finds a way. When you form a judgment, you put a person at the mercy of that judgment- from yourself. Psychologists can affirm behaviorial habits and models, but how much of what people believe today about global warming, is in fact true? How much is being driven by hype? Continue Reading »
Santa Claus In Shorts?
December 19, 2007
That’s no big deal in Hawaii- but Greenland? Now there’s another idea for Al Gore. Talk about an “Inconvenient Truth“, if it be so. But, if the most dire climate forecasts come true the tourism industry in Europe’s far north, already feeling the effects of global warming, may find itself promoting a Santa in shorts and a camel-drawn sleigh. Yuk! Continue Reading »
Is It Bloomberg Time?
December 18, 2007
Mayor Bloomberg’s aides have been reaching out to consultants from his past campaigns about whether they are free for a possible 2008 White House bid - including one who helped make his slick mayoral TV spots, The Post has learned. Continue Reading »
Global Warming Carbon Tax?
December 18, 2007
Before we start talking about a global warming brand of tax or taxation, maybe we should ask ourselves IF we want some international agency taxing us at all. Let’s see, we have property taxes, city and county taxes, state taxes, federal taxes, excise and a host of other taxes. Why not a global warming tax? Maybe a Milky Way tax too? Continue Reading »
