Gross Domestic Product

February 29, 2008

George Bush says there will be no recession. “We’ll see the effects of this pro-growth package,” Bush told reporters at a White House news conference, acknowledging that some lawmakers already are talking about a second stimulus package. “Why don’t we let stimulus package 1, which seemed like a good idea at the time, have a chance to kick in?” Easy for you to say. Bloomberg Says No!

February 28, 2008

Michael Bloomberg says that he’s made a decision. He’s not going to run for president in 2008. Since he has always denied running for president, why does he have to “finally deny” running for president? Don’t you just love politics? Add his name to the list of those not running. We are in for a wild ride and next weeks March 4th primaries will greatly shape what’s ahead for the 2008 races. Continue Reading »

Super Delegate Switch

February 28, 2008

Most people felt that alst nights debate was won by Barack Obama. He did slightly better in the Ohio debate than he did in the Austin debate. And in both he did better than Hillary and that’s not good for the lady from Arkansas. But then little has been going good for her since Super Tuesday. Who’s plan was it to win big then and be over with the coronation? Mark Penn? Who can we blame for this mess anyway? Continue Reading »

Greenland Ice Sheet

February 28, 2008

Most people are oblivious as to world geography or history so few would know that the Greenland Ice Sheet is a vast body of ice covering roughly 80% of the surface of Greenland. It is the second largest ice body in the world, after the Antarctic Ice Sheet. How about those facts! Good trivia questions to ask your friends. But, the point is? Continue Reading »

$1,000 Gold In Sight!

February 27, 2008

Gold rose to records in London and New York and silver to new historic highs and silver gained to a 27-year high as the dollar’s all- time low spurred demand for precious metals as a hedge against inflation. Is the next stop $1,500 in a couple of years? Rememebr not too long agao when gold was $256 an ounce? Continue Reading »

Oxygen Depletion

February 27, 2008

In addition to the natural forces at work “out there”, wee have a lot of man-made junk going on right here. We have no control over what our sun will do, how unseen asteroids or brown dwarfs may impact us down the road. But what goes on here on this planet called Earth definitely comes under our stewardship responsibilities. And we’re slowly (Al Gore might say fast) cutting off our oxygen supply. Oxygen depletion is critical to our life! Continue Reading »

Inflammatory vs. Conciliatory

February 27, 2008

I hope that we have seen the last Democratic debate- on with the general election debate. What I observed in reference to the Cleveland, Ohio debate was the attitudinal difference of the two candidates that go to the heart of their basic characters. Hillary Clinton came across as inflammatory to both Obama and the moderators, while Obama repeatedly came across as gracious and conciliatory. Continue Reading »

Hillary Clinton Campaign

February 26, 2008

Is the Hillary Clinton campaign machine in the last throes of life? There is no mistaking a certain flailing, a lashing-out, as Hillary Clinton has become angry, mocking, and offensive in the last few days leading up to today’s Ohio debate- the 20th such debate and the LAST! Tonight is D-Day for the Hillary express. A kick off or the boot? Continue Reading »

Doomsday Vault

February 26, 2008

There have been all kinds of major catastrophic events in the history of our planet. The last such major disruption that wiped out 90% of life was the Toba supervolcano eruption. It started us on our last ice age that lasted nearly 60,000 years. With the coming of 2012, we’re now prepared with the opening of the Doomsday vault! Continue Reading »

Hurricane Tracking

February 26, 2008

If, and that “if” feels like more of a reality, the impending December 21, 2012 event is to really turn out to be something major and not a fluke like Y2k, then we need to get more into hurricane tracking and I’m not talking about monitoring the latitude and longitude of any one particular hurricane. I’m talking about the big picture. Is there a change in hurricane dynamics of what we’re now experiencing verses what history shows us? Continue Reading »

Ohio Debate

February 25, 2008

Will the Ohio debate be the last one, the last stand for someone (can you say Hillary?). Obviously things have changed since last Thursday’s debate in Austin, Texas. Hillary has picked up on Bubba’s approach saying, “Shame on you, Barack Obama. It is time you ran a campaign consistent with your messages in public. That is what I expect from you.” Shame on you! Continue Reading »

Global Warning?

February 25, 2008

Whatever the year 2012 may bring, if anything, what scientists know and are telling us is that the four years before 2012 should be momentous. Our global security is in part determined by the multi-faceted global warnings that are being announced almost every month. Unlike a one time event such as Y2k was to be, the 2012 scenario is more like a four year slow motion train (planet) wreck. Continue Reading »

Good Cop- Bad Cop

February 24, 2008

You’ve seen dozens of movies about this theme I’m sure. We have the criminal in a padded room and first a cop comes in who is being nice, trying to extract a confession. It doesn’t work. So, he leaves the room and in comes anotehr cop who is loud, rude, threatening, and everything the first cop wasn’t. If he can’t get the information or confession, he leaves the room and in comes the good cop, hoping to get a response to a sweet and kind questioning. Continue Reading »

Ralph Nader For President

February 24, 2008

It’s now official. What had been thought and projected is now in the open light of day. Will it make any difference and in this wild and crazy election cycle can anyone make any sense of it? Barack Obama said today during a visit at the Ohio State University Medical Center that he wasn’t terribly concerned about the prospect of a Nader campaign. Neither is anyone else, most probably.
