Adios Fidel Castro
February 19, 2008
Is communism now losing its grip on Cuba? The answer is yes; however, the question of how long is open to debate. Fidel has officially stepped down. It’s no longer a temporary move. Raul will be selected as the new Cuban president come this Sunday. Raul is opne to talking with the United States, but that will have to wait until January 20th, 2009, when a Democrat takes over as president of the US since Bush will not even talk with Raul. Democrats & Republicans
February 19, 2008
I’m ready for something other than a Donkey or an Elephant. What would be a Michael Bloomberg, 3rd party, symbol anyway? Does he need one? The bottom line is that we know all too well how the four leading candidates for the two positions fare in the public eye. Each of the four candidates left standing are just too predictable and only one (Obama) seems to have any chance at uniting the masses. Continue Reading »
Can Prayer Help?
February 19, 2008
Even the atheist cries out for help when the plane loses 2 of it’s 4 engines at 35,000 feet. And that cry is for God’s help! So, can prayer help us as we move towards what many think is the end of the world (not my thining, but let’s address it). While December 21, 2012 is more than four years away, time flies! Since I do pray every day and since prayer, centering, meditation, and contemplation are concepts that I embrace. I’d say prayer does help! Continue Reading »
Let Every Vote Count!
February 19, 2008
The Democratic mantra from 2000 when Bush stole the election in Florida was “Let every vote count!” Every single vote should count- EVERY ONE! But now that Hillary is on the losing end of the pledged delegate and popular vote, forget that crap! Let the super delegates reign supreme. Let the back room politicians install the old hacks (yes, that would be Hillary) and forget about the will of the people. The new mantra is “Let every super delegate vote count” and to hell with what the people want! Continue Reading »
Kosovars Recognized
February 19, 2008
The United States officially recognized Kosovo. The Kosovars were expecting that of course. The Balkan state which split from Serbia on Sunday is now an independent nation on Monday, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in a written statement. That view isn’t acceptable to Russia of course and they’re trying to get the United Nations to condemn the act. Condemn democracy? Continue Reading »
Obama To Houston
February 18, 2008
Obama is coming to the Houston Toyota Center this Tuesday. But, he has to finish the work in Wisconsin first. Obama plans on celebrating the Wisconsin primary victory from down town Houston. Hillary didn’t step foot into Wisconsin until Saturday and then she cut her three day plans there to just two. Obama seemed to pick up his pace with her visit to the state which he’s been in all week. Continue Reading »
Doomsday Clock?
February 18, 2008
If the date December 21, 2012 says anything at all to me it is the hope and the promise that we will see a change in the world, in how we live, which means we will have to have a major change in consciousness. I don’t see the Mayan calendar, nor any of the other ancient cultures that have referred to the 2012 date as a doomday scenario- a ticking down to a doomsday clock. Continue Reading »
Kosovo Independence Day
February 18, 2008
The world is changing quickly. Some would say that it is spinning out of control and that 2012 predictions show signs of last day of existence- or at least until 11:11pm. But, between now and then there’s much to do. People want to be free and Kosovo said why not today? And so it is. Kosovo is a self-declared independent republic in southeastern Europe. After international negotiations failed to reach a consensus on an acceptable constitutional status, Kosovo’s provisional government unilaterally declared independence from Serbia on 17 February 2008. Bubba Goes Bonkers At Timken!
February 17, 2008
Hillary has said that she can assure we Americans that she can keep that hunting dog on the front porch! Does anyone think that’s the case? When Bubba was president, his whereabouts were tightly monitored. But, as the first spouse, he’ll have a lot more freedom. And just because he’s been on his better behavior since South Carolina doesn’t mean he’s changed. His Timken high school behavior proved that once again. Continue Reading »
Irrevelant Primaries?
February 17, 2008
Why are we spending tens and even hundreds of millions of dollars on all these primaries if they are irrevelant, don’t count, and it doesn’t matter? Why is Hillary spending the weekend for the Wisconsin primary if it doesn’t matter? Harold Ickes evidently thinks that democracy doesn’t matter any longer in America. Continue Reading »
Democratic Convention Deadlock?
February 17, 2008
Please someone win the Democratic presidential nomination! Terry McAuliffe totally changed the priamry scenario for the Democrats, even to the point of denying Michigan and Florida, so that Hillary, his queen bee, could have it all wrapped up on Super Tuesday. Now what Terry? What a mess you’ve created, or is it Obama’s fault? Continue Reading »
Wisconsin Primary
February 16, 2008
What could be betetr for Hillary than winning the Texas and Ohio primaries? Winning the Wisconsin primary. And it appears that they know it now- or have discovered what should have been obvious. After the Potomac Sweep, all eyes are on the Obama momentum. If he then wins Hawaii and the Wisconsin primary next Tuesday, there’s a whole two weeks of hearing about Obama’s TEN STRAIGHT VICTORIES! Continue Reading »
Lost Civilization?
February 16, 2008
If there is a society, culture, or civilization that is representative of all such “lost civilizations” it is Atlantis! Was it real or just a myth and if so where did the story begin? Bsically Atlantis is the name of a legendary island first mentioned by Plato in his dialogues Timaeus and Critias. Few of Plato’s fellow Greeks took his depiction of Atlantis literally. His own chief disciple Aristotle thought he made Atlantis up. Yet Plato’s story is so detailed and circumstantial that many readers, even before the modern interest, found it hard to dismiss totally. Steven P. Kazmierczak
February 16, 2008
Northern Illinois University became the fourth university or school within a week to witness such an incident when Kazmierczak went on a shooting spree. Our schools are now one of the most dangerous places on earth. On Feb. 8, a woman shot two fellow students to death before committing suicide at Louisiana Technical College in Baton Rouge. In Memphis, a 17-year-old is accused of shooting and critically wounding a fellow student Monday during a high school gym class. The 15-year-old victim of a shooting at an Oxnard, Calif., junior high school has been declared brain dead. Continue Reading »
