Pennsylvania Has Voted!
April 23, 2008
After six weeks of build up, when Hillary once had a twenty point lead, and after a very negative campaign finally Pennsylvania has voted and here is what we have learned. She has won by 9-10% depending if you round off or not. She gained about 200,000 in popular vote meaning she is still 600,000 votes behind and more than likely not able to catch Obama. And most importantly, she only picked up 13 more delegates than Obama. Continue Reading »
Food Rationing?
April 23, 2008
The two most prosperous nations in the world with the largest economies (America and Japan) are both beginning to talk about some serious food supply issues. Food rationing in America and Japan? Come on get real! Well, I am! The world wide population explosion along with some other logistic determinants are an early precursor to the fact that serious problems are ahead in feeding the world- what it wants! A Keystone Decision
April 22, 2008
What appears to be obvious is that Hillary will win the Keystone state- Pennsylvania on Tuesday. The only question is will it be double digits and how deep into double digits. A month ago, Hillary had a 16% lead and polls have gotten Obama as close as 3% at various times though most polls now have him 5-9% behind. I’m sure Obama would love a single digit loss (9%) like 54-45. Continue Reading »
Oil Spikes
April 22, 2008
Who would have believed $75 a barrel oil, much less $100? How about $125 or $150 a barrel? Just how high can oil go before it crashes the economy- WORLD WIDE? I think we’re about to see. There will come a tipping point and when we reach it you can’t simply drop the price and go back. Too much damage will have been done. Continue Reading »
A Living Universe
April 22, 2008
The Ancient Greek word Gaia was the primal Greek goddess personifying the Earth. The Gaia hypothesis is an ecological hypothesis that proposes that living and nonliving parts of the earth are a complex interacting system that can be thought of as a single organism. In other words the earth, our solar system and the universe is a living universe. Continue Reading »
Pennsylvania Paranoia
April 21, 2008
The way the polls have been changing both Hillary and Obama “Pennsylvania paranoia” has set in to both camps. The primary is now just a day away. Hillary needs a BIG VICTORY and Obama needs to just STAY CLOSE. How will the peopple of the Keystone state judge all the negative campaigning and attacks that have been going on? We’ll know soon enough. Continue Reading »
Hillary Clinton
April 21, 2008
Let me give you my bias up front so you can better judge what I’m about to write. I spent my early life as a Democrat (ie. John and Bobby Kennedy and Nelson Rockefeller), but most of my adult life as a Republican. George Bush has greatly disappointed me and Hillary Clinton is the LAST person I want to see as president. So, am I left with Barack Obama? Continue Reading »
Hopi Blues?
April 20, 2008
The Hopi Indians, which means good, peaceful, or wise, come from a group of Southwestern people called Pueblo, but their language is different. Worse yet is the fact that they are surrounded on all sides by the Navajos, who have been their enemies. So, we have the Hopi blues! They do have something in common with the Israeli’s. But that’s not where I want to go with this commentary. Continue Reading »
Superdelegate Update
April 20, 2008
My guess is that you’ll see some changes on the roll and participation of Democratic super delegates at their convention this summer. A superdelegate update is now something that needs to be reviewed every other day or so as more and more superdelegates start to make their “intentions” known. But of course, intentions are just that and they could change tomorrow. But as of today, here’s the best count that I can find. Continue Reading »
Ground Zero
April 20, 2008
More than 2,700 people were killed in the terrorist strike on 9-11. And today, the Pope got to see what’s been called ground zero up close and personal. Joining the pope at the site were survivors of the attacks and relatives of those who died, as well New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Cardinal Edward Egan. The Holy Father lit a memorial candle, prayed, and blessed the site with holy water. Continue Reading »
Superdelegates Deciding
April 18, 2008
Howard Dean has said he wants the superdelegates to make up their minds and fast! Well, many are and by far the majority are saying Obama! An increasingly firm Howard Dean told CNN Thursday that he needs superdelegates to say who they’re for – and “I need them to say who they’re for starting now.” The Democratic blood-letting needs to end. I don’t tbhink Hillary agrees. Continue Reading »
The Falling Dollar
April 17, 2008
Fiat money isn’t worth the paper it’s written on and the US$ is fiat money. We’ve known that but now the rest of the world is catching on. Want to know why oil prices keep going up? The simple answer (other than greed) is that the US$ keeps going down, down, down! That’s not the worst news. Soon, oil will be traded in something other than the US$ and then we’ll really see a mess! Continue Reading »
Carter & Hamas
April 16, 2008
Sometimes I just don’t get Jimmy Carter. But then I guess a lot of Americans never did. He made it to the top office in the land, but he landed not very well in the position as it turns out. Once again, Carter is seemingly doing the unpopular thing. Maybe that’s just his calling- who he is. Who knows? Continue Reading »
McCain Prefers Hillary
April 15, 2008
It seems strange that Bill Clinton has said that he’d prefer a Hillary-McCain match up before McCain became the party’s nominee. Now, McCain says that he prefers Hillary as his opposition as well. What’s up with this couple? Seems as though we have a mutual admiration society thing going on. Ah, but who can figure out politics? Continue Reading »
