Elana Kagan Grilling

The questioning process got under way for Elana Kagan today. The two political parties have been locked into this paradigm of do unto others as you would never want it done to you.
So, when there’s a Republican nomination, the Democrats go on a feeding frenzy, and when we have a Democratic nominees like Elana, it’s full bore ahead with the prospect of a FILIBUSTER bombing if need be. It seems as though this is the nature of politics. Kill the other person before they kill you, but above all, do the best hatchet job you can.
I am neither Republican nor Democrat. My “internal operating system” is more geared to individualism with compassion ( combination of some of the proclamations of both parties) ; however, saying you’re a compassionate conservative and BEING one is two different worlds.
Supreme Court nominee Elana Kagan pledged on Monday to do her best to consider “every case impartially, modestly, with commitment to principle and in accordance with law” if appointed to the nation’s highest court. Speaking on the first day of her confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Kagan said the court must ensure that “our government never oversteps its proper bounds or violates the rights of individuals.”
Right, and who really believes that especially after having looked at her record!
Kagan’s opening testimony marked the beginning of a marathon high-pressure vetting by the committee, in which members will scrutinize her record. Her remarks also came after the GOP, including the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, voiced concerns over the 50-year-old solicitor general, telling the panel that her career has been “consumed more by politics than law.”
If it wasn’t that, it would be something else I am sure.
Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., ranking Republican on the panel, said Kagan’s record warrants close questioning as the Senate considers her appointment to the nation’s highest court. “Ms. Kagan certainly has numerous talents and good qualities, but there are serious concerns about this nomination,” he said. Is anyone really surprised by his statements?

Tropical Storm Alex- 93L

Talk about the “perfect storm”. Could there be anything WORSE than seeing a tropical storm or hurricane come into the Gulf of Mexico- next week? That would seem to be FATE of the worse sense; however, that just might happen. We’ve been told for week now that 93L (when it came off Africa) would die. It has NOT!
It seems likely that if the storm develops quickly today into a tropical storm it will follow a more northward track, bringing it toward Louisiana or the Florida panhandle. If it remains disorganized it will probably drift toward Northern Mexico and southern Texas.
The question of intensity is even more difficult to answer because don’t know the answers to fundamental questions such as-
1) Will a storm actually form today?
2) How long will its center remain over the Yucatan?
3) Where will the system go once in the Gulf of Mexico?
What we do know is that we certainly don’t need an “Alex” (first named storm of the season) to cross over the BP oil spill area and spread all that oil and deadly chemical mix of toxins across the Gulf states, killing vegetation- and humans!
Our hurricane trackers now believe there is just such a chance- a 70% chance!The tropical disturbance’s rains have become more concentrated, surface air pressure is dropping and upper-level winds are becoming more conducive to storm development, said the hurricane center. An Air Force “hurricane hunter” plane is scheduled to head into the system Friday afternoon to determine if it has evolved into a tropical cyclone, with closed circulation around a center of low pressure.
Could there be any worse scenario? Don’t go there!

Gold is now at a new high before the opening bell this Friday morning, June 18th. At some point things are going to blow. This isn’t a proclamation of doom and gloom but the reality of what is happening and really what NEEDS to happen so we can clear away the “burned stone” and start building anew.
