Angle Of Incidence?

August 25, 2008

In geometric optics, the angle of incidence is the angle between a ray incident (hitting) on a surface and the line perpendicular to the surface at the point of incidence, called the normal. The angle of incidence at which light is first totally internally reflected is known as the critical angle. The degree of the incoming angle (incidence) determines the angle of reflection (how it bounces off.

So much for phjysics of geometric optics. Let’s talk spiritual life. :-)

The goal of most spiritual paths is to take us to a place where the angle of incidence becomes closer and closer to the perpendicular. That’s good; however, that’s also somewhat misleading. For it assumes that the light is coming from without. That’s not how I see where a transformed consciousness is headed.

The greatest of spiritual giants seek no angle of incidence. In other words, they are trying to be ONE with the Creator such that they reflect that Oneness. The Light comes from within and not without and so there’s only a SEEING by others of the one I AM.

Using the words of Jesus, He only did what the Father was doing, and He only spoke of that which the Father spoke. He was ONE with “the” Consciousness. And in the book of John, He said that was His prayer for us as well. As someone has said, “Did you ever realize that nothing ever simply occured with God?” God knows. Consciousness IS! The I that I AM becoming can’t be seen from any external force, but from the power within.

Tap into it! Let your light (which is His as well) SHINE!

Life is lived inside out, not vice-versa.
