Bloomberg To The Rescue?
February 12, 2008
With the Democrats definitely headed left (either Obama or Hillary) and the Republicans doing exactly the same with McCain (though he pretends to be a conservative), could Michael Bloomberg take back his Republican party affiliation and run a a centrist-right winger? He’d be all alone. Ah, but of coruse he’s still not running for president. The wheat and lots of chaff is still being sifted.
Bloomberg is a unique decisoin-maker in the Ronald Reagan mold. Michael Bloomberg reaches decisions by relying on a mix of gut feelings and obsessively collected and analyzed data, while saying nothing about any of it to outsiders. He takes this quiet approach not only in governing but also in his own life decisions. His current consideration of whether to run for president as an independent is no exception.
How many times has Bloomberg denied he’s running for President?
Publicly, Bloomberg insists he is “not a candidate.” He refuses to talk about the activity of aides who are building the framework for a campaign. But their extensive operations include preparing to get his name on state ballots, vast polling and studying potential running mates. Bloomberg and his aides also pay close attention to independent measures of public opinion. He’s no dummy and he didn’t become a BILLIONAIRE accidently.
