Campaign And Election
August 31, 2006
It’s time to get get “down and dirty” with some election projections. The Labor Day weekend is upon us ( a day away). So, I want to give you a “sliding analysis” of how I see things between now and November 7. Let me say that as of today it looks like an automatic lock (90% certainty) that the Democrats will win back the House, and an even shot (50-50) of winning the Senate and here are some details.
The campaign and election for 2006 looks as good for the Democrats as it did in 1974. You do remember Watergate, right? The magical numbers for the Democrats are 15 and 6: the number of seats they need to win in the Hosue and Senate to control both houses. I will give an every two week analysis and guess.
Starting off with September 1, I see the Democrats winning 25-5 (falling one short in the Senate). Can you say STALEMATE for anything getting done in the last two years of the Bush presidency? And can you say Speaker Nancy Pelosi? Pelosi can!
I just see no way that George W. Bush can defend the Iraq policy. People are angry about the war, angry about gasoline prices, angry about spiraling health costs, angry about government secrecy, and just ready for a change period! I’m afraid that Bush has become a “burning Bush“. You know people are upset when when one of the msot searched for phrases on Google is “f*** Bush”.
But this is as things are as we start September. We’re still 68 days away and Democrats are sweating the “October Surprise” monkey. Can they keep it off their backs, will it not show up, or will it ruin their pre-arranged victory parties? Ahh, we’ve got many more agonizing days between now and then.
Stay tuned!
