Interesting Times

January 23, 2012

The year 2012 has grown in myth for a decade now, if not before by a minority of people. Of course all of the discussion has centered around the Mayan calendar date of December 21, 2012. Will the world end, will there be a new awakening, or will nothing happen at all?

You can get some heated discussions for any of the above scenarios.

But where the rubber meets the road and where boots on the ground come into play, the question is more about what might happen BEFORE 12.21.2012.

>Will the EU’s decision today to place an embargo on Iranian oil cause Iran to shut of the Strait of Hormuz and run oil prices up to $150 a barrel?
>Will Israel take advantage of any Iranian action to attack their nuclear plants?
>Will the M9 coronal mass ejection (just short of an X flare) of yesterday, and due to arrive in two days, cause telecommunication disruptions?
>Will Greece implode and be the domino that spirals the world economies into a major depression?

Gregg Braden writes, “The human race is at a unique turning point. Will we choose to create the best or all possible worlds, or something devastating”?

Indeed we are faced with some life-transforming situations which have consequences that are one hundred and eighty degrees in direction. What is obvious is that we can longer afford the luxury of “kicking the can down the road”. Will we follow the spirit that’s within each of us or will we listen to our ego? Has our conscience been so seared that we can no longer identify spirit from ego?

Or, do you not see 2012 and these times wherein we live all that serious?

Lizard Legacy & Monkey Brain?

November 8, 2011

Calling someone a “snake in the grass” is one of those ugly remarks; however, is being a lizard much better?

Oh, yeah!

You see we all have this lizard legacy, and it’s a good thing too because it’s there for our protection and survival. In fact, we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for our lizard legacy. In today’s parlance, it’s called the reptilian brain. Thankfully we have evolved along the way and added to it the mammalian, neo-cortex, and pre frontal lobes to make our brains more functional.

It’s probably that lizard legacy that gave us the phrase original sin.

Not totally of course, but a lot of our physical (fight syndromes) proclivities are stored in that brain stem area. Many of our fears, phobias, and addictions are also tucked away for future reference. When we add to the lizard legacy the “Monkey-brain” (rational part of the brain), is there any wonder we act like a bunch of animals much of the time?

Thankfully, we’re spirit being with the capability and capacity to put it all together and act responsibly: if our religious beliefs will allow for such. Yep, there’s the challenge for sure.

Thinking & Feeling

November 6, 2011

One statement that I used to make a lot early in my life was, I BELIEVE! Not quite so bad is, I THINK!

I’ve come to a place in life where I prefer to be around those who say, I FEEL!

Somewhere back in the early days of marriage I came to a realization that opened my eyes to reality: marriage will do that. When someone tells you what it is that they FEEL, there’s really no argument because it is “their reality”. A person FEELS what they feel and for you to deny their feelings won’t produce good results.

Worst of all though are the GOD SAID people!

How can you argue with people who have heard from God? Of course most have not, they have just heard from their ego that’s told them the best way to close out an argument is to SAY that they’ve heard from God. Edna Zavala (a curandera) puts it like this, “The cosmos is not solely a quantitative measure, cold and precise. Nature is not just a measure that is explained through a concept.”

In other words she’s saying that we learn by intuiting, feeling, and perceiving.

Somehow we in the Western world have learned with our MINDS and INTELLECT only forgetting that we are tied to nature, or as astronaut Edgar Mitchell has put it, “We are made of the same substance as the stars, and we come from them.” When we move away from nature into houses, cars, and offices planted on concrete jungles we lose sight of our true nature and begin to think that we are the center of the universe because we created all that we live in.

Hello!

When’s the last time you took a hike in the red woods, scaled a mountain, sat beside the oceans surf, or maybe just laid back in a hammock and contemplated your navel? It could change your life! Unfortunately we’ve been taught to THINK instead of FEELING. Maybe life would be better if we did a little of both and listened to what the stars, trees, and plants are telling us. Are you interested?

Limited Vision?

November 4, 2011

Life is so big, the planet so large, and the universe so awesome that there’s no way anyone can appreciate how vast the world is or so small we are in comparison.

We have such a limited view, such a limited vision of the reality of life!

It seems that we’re making progress; however, when one looks back at recent archaeological discoveries, tries to comprehend how the Great pyramids were built, and explain the many sacred sites around the globe, it’s obvious we’re clueless in many ways.

>Who can fathom the 5,125 year cycle of the Mayans?
>Who can comprehend the five Suns of the Hopi?
>Who understands the impact of the 100,000 year cycle of ice ages?
>Who really knows if the 420,000 year Antarctica core drillings are valid?
>Who know the language of Gaia?

We have such limited visions in part because we have clung to the visions of individuals who interpreted the world thousands of years ago. While there much to be learned from what has been handed down to us, let us not be blinded by their humanity and lack of scientific knowledge.

We stand on the stage of great change and challenge.

December 21, 2012 is more of a symbol and a reminder of massive changes underway in our galaxy: more than being a single day or hour of apocalyptic happenings. We need to go within and to see far without. We are spirit beings who came from afar, for reasons way beyond making the monthly mortgage.

What are those reasons, or is you vision too limited by “daily debts”?

An On-Off Switch?

October 26, 2011

What happens when we die?

When you are young that’s never a question that one asks, let alone attempts to answer. The older you get, the more death you see, especially that of your parents, the more you begin to wonder. Of course there are many groups with answers….just FOR YOU!

>You go to heaven if you’re a good Christian.
>You go to heaven with lots of virgins if you’re a self-martyred Muslim
>You come back to life and try to get it right if you follow a number of Eastern religions.
>You go to a “holding area” (Purgatory) if you’re a devout Catholic
>You simply cease to exist if you’re an atheist

Of course I am simplifying the whole concept but regardless of what you believe it’s one of those events in life that none of us can escape. Steve Jobs had to finally step outside of his Buddhist traditions and face that reality last month. In the just released book, Steve Jobs, written by Walter Isaacson, we find Steve Jobs as having said the following.

“I’m about fifty-fifty on believing God. I like to think something survives after you die……maybe your consciousness endures. But then on the other hand, perhaps it’s like an on-off switch. CLICK. You are gone. Maybe that’s why I never liked to put on-off switches on Apple devices.”

Steve now knows what we only speculate.

But, one day we will know for sure as well.

Ignoring The Crisis

October 20, 2011

Houston, “We have a problem.”

Surely you remember that phrase. Well, it really is much bigger than that. People of planet earth, we have a CRISIS!

1-There’s too much government involvement, (regulation) in the lives of people.
2-There’s too many people (approaching 7 billion) for the resources of the earth.
3-There’s too many religions killing each other in the “name of God”.
4-There’s too much superficial reading of the Bible (a deep spiritual library).
5-There’s too much ME & MINE and not enough YOURS & OURS!

The list is much deeper and longer, but, let’s not get depressed here.

From the Tea Party to the “Occupy Wall Street” groups the message is (coming from different directions of course) LET THE PEOPLE LIVE! Or, as Ronald Reagan once said, “The Federal government has a philosophy that if it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it”.

The CRISIS is a poverty of Spirit!

We are spirit beings! We were created to LOVE, not HATE. We can’t go on very much longer without serious consequences to ALL of us; however, stepping out of the behaviors that we’ve adopted and lived for all this many years won’t be easy. The first step is to admit we’re in a spiritual famine.

And, we are thirsty

Anarchy Or Dictatorship?

April 2, 2011

That’s a simple question for me!

If there’s anything that I learned from my college political science classes it was that dictatorships can be benevolent or malevolent whereas all anarchies are unending chaos and violent. In a dictatorship there’s one enemy and you know who he is. In an anarchy, there’s many enemies and you have no clue as to who they all are.

We’re seeing this played out in the Middle East- BIG TME.

Who was throwing rocks at whom in Egypt?

Who are the rebels in Libya? Who does one pay taxes and homage to in Eastern Libya? Everyone knows Qadaffi and they also know how to appease him; however, how does one appease many differing groups of rebels?

The loosely organized rebel force had been acting in a more disciplined fashion in recent days, but what uniform are they wearing and is it any wonder that NATO accidently bombed and killed a dozen or so very recently? The Middle East is being transformed over night. Long standing dictatorships are being overthrown in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and other nations; however, think not that DEMOCRACY is on the rise.

What we’re seeing is a rise in ANARCHY!

Democracy or Anarchy?

February 23, 2011

It seems that the entire Middle East is about to go DOWN in flames (not up).

While many people are applauding the DEMOCRATIC  ACTIONS in Tunisa, Egypt, Algeria, Lybia, Yemen, and other nations, I see something very different. That those nations have lived under decade-long dictatorships is obvious; however, what’s not been seen, is as old as the book of Samuel in the Old Testament.

We’re not seeing a rise in democracy, nor enlightenment. Anarchy and violence isn’t enlightenment, nor an advance in Consciousness!

We’re seeing a CHANGE, which brings REGRESSION (initially) that could take decades to settle down. The Egyptian economy will not recover from the last thirty days of rioting and protesting for maybe a decade or more. Thousands of lives have been removed from this third dimensional world. Heartache of economic conditions have been replaced by the heartache of lost loved ones.

Saul is now on the throne (The Biblical version).

Had the people chosen prayer and non-violence they could have had a David, but they chose to take Saul over Mubarak- etc. The Book of Samuel says that the people cried, wept, and mourned for FORTY YEARS because they wanted what they wanted IMMEDIATELY! No one knows where all of the protests will lead us the rest of 2011. It’s obvious that the principle of  ”unintended consequences” is now and play: the genie is out of the bottle and no one can put it back.

Hold on!

Where we’re headed is a guess, but how you do anything is how you do everything, and that says to me that how these “revolutions” ae being done is not a good sign for the future. It seems we’ve learned nothing from the Iranian revolution, nor the revolution of Venezuela. Those “freedoms and prosperity” that both Iran and Venezuela promised have turned sour. Only time will tell where this is leading the primarily, Muslim nations.

My take on Jesus  and the Christos that I followis to turn the other cheeck- resist not evil- not THROW ROCKS at each other. Come onfolks, we can’t have it both ways (violence and enlightenment?).

But, this I know. Sharia law is not democratic and IF the way women are treated in Saudi Arabia and other Muslim nations continues, women have very dark days ahead because according to the Sharia, despite declarations of the equality of the sexes before God, women are considered inferior to men, and have fewer rights and responsibilities. A woman counts as half a man in giving evidence in a court of law, or in matters of inheritance.

Democracy as I know it allows for religious freddom and the equality of all. While there’s no place, nor any religion that it’s practicedperfectly, I’ll take America, freedom of religion, and English law any day!

Face Off With Facebook

February 12, 2011

Iran almost saw a regime change two years ago when the young people through social web sites were able to organize. Even though almost everything was shut down but Twitter, pictures of the violence travelled around the world.

Egypt and Hosni Mubarak weren’t so lucky.

Facebook and Google savvy young people brought down the Egyptian government that had ruled for 30 years in just under three weeks. Today religious and political movements can spread like a disease, faster, and more deadly than Ebola. The YOUTH MOVEMENT has captured a new way of communicating and committing to their desired goals.

Do you think it not strange that almost all suicide bombers are under 30, and many just teenagers?

A message can be whipped up and inflamed almost overnight and conservative institutions are nearly handcuffed to do anything about it. It’s a whole new world today. A new culture is FACING us and one of its names is FACEBOOK>

The Third U.S. War!

November 20, 2010

We now say that Iraq is more of a peace-keeping event and not a war; however, our 50,000 military men and women there would call it a war. In Afghanistan we are surely at war and picking up the pace. I mean how long can we stay there anyway.

And then there’s the undeclared war but one of the most dangerous- The Mexican border war!

During the Mexican Revolution (1910-1929 basically), the United States joined Mexico in fighting PANCHO VILLA! There were battles raging in New Mexico and Arizona. Hello! What do you think is going on there now? Oh yes, and let’s add Texas to the mix. It seems that California has put up the white flag and surrendered.

This modern day war comes under the heading of a DRUG WAR- cartels battling for profit.

What is going on is NOT a drug war. Much like in Afghanistan, the war is over drugs so that MONEY can be obtained to fight the enemy which in both cases is the United States of America. The big difference is that Afghanistan and the revolutionaries there are a long way from Houston, Albuquerque, and Phoenix. Know what I mean Gene?

Fifty years ago Mexican guerillas financed their war by robbing banks.

Many politicians are saying that the answer is to make DRUGS LEGAL! Besides, we could make a lot of revenue by doing so and what politician  isn’t looking for more money? But, here’s my bet. If we make DRUGS LEGAL, the rebels would go back to robbing banks, extortion, kidnapping, and other ways to raise revenue to support their cause, which is what? Mexico is very tribal (as is Afghanistan) and therein lies part of the answer.

The CIVIL WAR in Mexico today is much like that of 100 years ago except for two major differences.

1-Pancho Villa didn’t have helicopters, submarines, airplanes, AK47s, high-tech digital technology, etc.

2-We recognized the threat back then, but today we’re basically ignoring or giving in to the THIRD WAR.

Mexico City is the #1 kidnapping city in the world. Not far behind is Phoenix, Arizona with more than 1,000 abductions annually. Until our President and Congress understand the gravity of the war, quit playing politics, quit aiding and abetting the enemy and get serious about the threat, we’ll be paying a very huge price down the road. It makes no sense to be GROPING people at airport check in terminals while playing footsies with the enemy on our Southern-most border- the location of a growing WAR!

Can You Sense It?

November 10, 2010

We are (I’m talking the PLANET) in unchartered water!

We (I’m talking America) are way over our head. Try and put POLITICS & RACE aside as I say that Barack Obama (the social organizer) has been tasked many jobs that are WAY OVER his PAY GRADE! And, he has pulled around him people of like ilk: intellectuals, way left of America liberals, and individuals who have not worked in the real world.

>We’ve embarked upon BAILING OUT nearly every industry in the last two years.
>We’ve instituted programs (Obamacare) that can’t be funded, nor afforded.
>We’re now printing money as though it is real or means something.

As Obama lands in South Korea for the G-20 Summit, we’re on the verge of a CURRENCY WAR that has no good ending. Ireland is on the brink of repeating the Greece scenario except that the Irish really know how to take to the streets and RIOT!

>Glenn Beck sensed it last Friday and reported it.
>Clif High (web bot) has been forecasting it for 2+ years
>Tom Hartman just reported that 1/3rd of all US corporate profits are made by financial institutions who make NOTHING but enhance their wealth.
>The LIES being told by our own government that there were no MISSILE firings off the coast of California will come to light.

Yes, there is SOMETHING in the AIR and it’s not FEELING all that warm and fuzzy (maybe fuzzy).

The Parteee Is Over

November 2, 2010

I am not talking about the Democratic Party which has had a SUPER MAJORITY!

You know the addage, “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely“. The Democrats had it all their way the last two years. Democrats CONTROLLED the Presidency, the Senate, and the House. And, they ABUSED the power! These are not my words, but the words of many Democrats who have been saying that Nancy Pelosi was AUTHORITARIAN in dealing with the House.

Well, duh!

My bet is that Republicans would do the same. What’s to be SEEN is whether the TEA PARTY can carry the water for the people or if they cow-tow to the establishments of power as most are want to be when put in that environment of ELITISM! Remember Barbara Boxer demanding that she be addressed as “Senator” in a committee hearing?

I do! It stuck in my memory bank very strongly.

The PARTEEE that I am referring to is the ELITISM & ABUSE OF WEALTH that comes from such power. The clearest example is on front page! It was there this summer when Michelle Obama spent MILLIONS on a vacation. Does a president really need to play GOLF every week (if you’re not a public servant- do it daily! Private industry and entrepreneurs EARN their keep) and take dozens of vacations? Does a president need to spend $200,000,000.00 of OUR MONEY to take a trip?

Thats $200,000,000.00 A DAY on his trip next week!

The US would be spending a whopping $200 million per day on President Barack Obama’s visit to the city. “The huge amount of around $200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit,” a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said”. This is INSANITY.

When a government has so lost touch with REALITY and spends TRILLIONS that we do not have, lavish themselves (the Catholic church and many other religious institutions do the same) with LUXURY beyond measure, and then ask the people to cut back, we’re building an environment for TROUBLE! Can you say revolution?

I hope not.

Now, don’t read into this that I am against WEALTH- far from it. I am against POWER gone mad in the PUBLIC realm- in the political arena. It not only HAS TO END…..it is fast going to come to an end, sooner than later because the booze has all been consumed and the PARTEEE is over. Some just don’t want to leave the trough!

Common Sense Preparations- Nov.3-13

October 28, 2010

More and more people are talking about serious concerns POST ELECTION (Nov 3-13). The “noise level” is getting louder and it’s coming from: well-known economists, out there zodiac economics (but with a good-great track record), Cliff High’s Web bot predictions, economic historians using various formulas, physics scientists, etc.

I see three things that can be done in light of the plethora of cautions after ruling out wide-eyed extinction level predictions.

1-Change nothing-continue doing business as usual.
2-Make some interim common sense adjustments.
3-Think end of the world and do crazy stuff!

Personally, I’m not one to put my head in the sand and ignore Yellow flags. Nor am I a doom-n-gloom person expecting the end of the world or something close to it. What seems more than realistic though to me is that there are serious economic challenges that could cause BIG DISRUPTIONS in our banking system. There are realistic EMP potentials that could cause our digital bank account to not be available (can you say bank holidays?)

Does any remember the 17th century Dutch Tulip Mania?

Today, money in America is not backed by gold or anything other than our government (that’s a scary thought). Money is CREATED with little 1′s and 0′s on magnetic discs and subject to a lot of potential problems. Computer wealth is even less reliable than paper wealth which in itself is not credible. It is not real wealth but a derivative of wealth. It is nothing but VIRTUAL WEALTH!

It would be great if everyone could have a few silver pieces, a gold coin or two but I know that’s not possible for many who live pay check to pay check. Having CASH in hand (not in a checking account) from now until Thanksgiving seems reasonable to me. If you have to be a bit late on paying a bill, (without damaging your credit rating) that seems reasonable.

After all, this is just for a 2-3 week window!

Four days from now the American political scene will change! Obama and Hillary will be out of Dodge (America) for 2-3 weeks. Coincidental? Could just be! Regardless of who is where or who wins Nov. 3rd, there are way too many “YELLOW FLAGS” (some RED ones too) to do NADA!

Tsunami & Fire

October 28, 2010

We’re seeing more and more sun spots, more eruptions, and we’re probably just getting started- on 2012?

Oh yeah, there’s that 2010 thing first (November 2nd- called a mid-term election). But, back to the natural catastrophies.

Planes and helicopters packed with rescue workers and supplies landed for the first time Wednesday on remote Indonesian islands that were pounded by a 10-foot (three-meter) tsunami, sweeping away villages and killing at least 272 people. The first aerial surveys of the region revealed huge swaths of land underwater and the crumbled rubble of homes torn apart by the wave. One lay tilted, resting on the edge of its red roof, with tires and slabs of concrete piled up on the surrounding sand.

A tsunami alert was sounded but does a falling tree make a noise if no one is listening?

Two days after a powerful earthquake triggered the wave, the casualty count was still rising as rescuers and disaster officials finally reached the Mentawai island chain, which was closest to the epicenter and the worst hit. Bad weather had kept them away.

And then there was the FIRE (volcano)

Rescuers scoured the slopes of Indonesia’s most volatile volcano Wednesday after it was rocked by an eruption that spewed clouds of searing ash, killing at least 28 villagers including an old man known as the mountain’s spiritual gatekeeper. The blast eased pressure that had been building up behind a lava dome perched on the volcano’s crater, but experts said the worst may not be over. The lava dome could unleash deadly gases and debris if it collapses.

It’s not yet over!

“It’s a little calmer today,” said Surono, the chief of Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation. “No hot clouds, no rumbling. But a lot of energy is pent up back there. There’s no telling what’s next.” Mount Merapi, which translates as “Fire Mountain,” has erupted many times over the last 200 years, often with deadly results. In 1994, 60 people were killed, while in 1930, more than a dozen villages were incinerated, leaving up to 1,300 dead.

And, all of this is two years out from 12.21.2012!
