Sarah Palin

August 29, 2008

John McCain has made his decision as to who will counter Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket- who’s the person that will do the fourth debate for the Republicans? It’s Sarah Palin! Say What? Sara who? A woman? Yep and that’s a good John McCain strategy in that he’s trying to take advantage of the defection of many women that loved Hillary. But, will it work? Time will tell. Continue Reading »

Tim Pawlenty

August 29, 2008

John McCain has Tim Pawlenty on his short list. So, who is Timothy James Pawlenty? He is the 39th and current Governor of Minnesota and a member of the Republican Party. In the Minnesota gubernatorial election of 2002, as the Republican nominee, he was elected Governor of Minnesota and inaugurated on January 6, 2003. He was re-elected in 2006, and his second term will end on January 3, 2011. As Governor, he has become well known for freezing taxes by cutting funding for programs that were purported to help the poor. Continue Reading »

Hillary Clinton

August 27, 2008

Hillary got her turn Tuesday night. But earlier in the day, Bubba was at it again, making a obtruse argument about two candidates that smacked of an up side the head blow to Obama. Bubba just can’t quite keep his emotions to himself, but we already know that. The introduction was much like Michelle’s the night before- filled with stories of her childhood and snippets from her mother. Continue Reading »

Michelle Obama

August 26, 2008

The soft version was on display Monday night in Denver and the lady does have a soft side and I’m not talking about her soft flowing hair. As she said, she’s a daughter, a mother, a wife, and a proud American. I mean that totally covers the bases doesn’t it? It was not only the content, but the constant smile and humble spirit that was on display. Continue Reading »

Joe Biden

August 24, 2008

I am batting a grand .000 (if we’re using the baseball analogy). None of the candidates that I’ve wanted to run for the presidency made it. And now the one person I wanted to the Vice President slot for the Democrats didn’t make it as well. That’s not a knock on Joe Biden. Maybe I just want to whine a little. Continue Reading »

Why Not Me?

August 8, 2008

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked the question, why not me? What about me? Why did they get that? Ad nauseum. The world is basically how we represent it to ourselves. Someone put it this way, “I give all the meaning there is to everyhting I see (experience). I, the big I. You, we, and whomever give life it’s meaning in some form or fashion. Who wants to take the blame? Who wants the responsibility? Continue Reading »

The Electoral Map

June 11, 2008

Hillary is still waiting in the wings, hoping that Barack will stumble out of the gate, but for now, let’s assume that Barack and John are going to the the head-bangers come this fall. As Hillary found out, you don’t win an election because you win the popular vote, but because you get the most delegates and then the most electoral votes! Continue Reading »

Kennedy Brain Tumor Surgery

June 2, 2008

There are no minor brain surgeries. And when one is at the age that Ted Kennedy is, the body doesn’t do well with the procedure; however, GOOD NEWS has come from the doctors this morning after Ted’s surgery. Sen. Kennedy underwent what his doctors called successful surgery Monday to treat his cancerous brain tumor, and told his wife shortly after that he “felt like a million bucks,” a family spokeswoman said. Oregon & Kentucky Primaries

May 20, 2008

The rhetoric has been flying in a special way these past few days leading up to the Oregon and Kentucky primaries. Obama is set to say that he now as a majority oif nthe pledged delegates (though shy of the needed 2,025 for the nomination). Hillary is saying that Obama can declare anything but it means nothing as she has spent all of her time in Kentucky trying to run up the popular vote. Continue Reading »

Election Betrayals

May 13, 2008

Ah, the fun of politics. The intrigue and the down right nasty betrayals: that’s why it’s called POLITICS! One does whatever is politically beneficial for the “I’. It’s why our government is so in debt. A politician gets elected and then they bring home the PORK so you’ll elect them again- as though the next person wouldn’[t do the same? Continue Reading »

The General Election

May 12, 2008

Hillary is still talking about battling all the way to the White House, but that rhetoric is about as serious and sensible as the “right wing conspiracy” claims that she’s posited for years. The truth is, both Obama and McCain are now gearing up for the five month push to November and that means new battle plans for both. Continue Reading »

White People?

May 9, 2008

I was at a convention in San Francisco many years ago while another convetion was going on. That “other” convetion was for albinos! I also know that to the Indian tribes of the Great Plains, a white buffalo was a sacred beast regarded as the special property of the Sun. But when Hillary Clinton said that she appealed to WHITE PEOPLE yeasterday, I think the political scene shifted into an underlying tone that needs to be addressed.

The best thing we could say about her comment is to echo what Obama said a month ago. We’re now in the SILLY SEASON!

Hillary Rodham Clinton vowed Wednesday to continue her quest for the Democratic nomination, arguing she would be the stronger nominee because she appeals to a wider coalition of voters — including whites who have not supported Barack Obama in recent contests. Like it or not, and I think it’s needful, the whole race issue is now going to be a part of our American cultural discussion that cannot be avoided.

The Clinton’s just “thought” they were not prejudiced- or maybe it’s just that she (Bubba) will do whatever needs to be done to win. If you need the black vote, be black. If you need the white vote, be white. Whatever!

Larry Sabato, head of the University of Virginia Center for Politics, said Clinton’s comment was a “poorly worded” variation on the way analysts have been “slicing and dicing the vote in racial terms.” However, he said her primary support doesn’t prove she’s more electable. Either Democrat will get “the vast majority” of the other’s primary election votes in a general election, he said.

Do we have another Operation Chaos here- one not from El Rushbo?

Going deeper in this racial quicksand, Paul Begala, a political consultant, a commentator, and a former advisor to President Bill Clinton- and now Hillary advisor said, “The party (Democrats) could not win in November with just “eggheads and African-Americans,” that the party could not ignore white middle-class voters. Who’s ignoring the middle class? And what makes Paul think Hillary has them locked up?

Data from the North Carolina primary doesn’t back up Begala’s scenario.

Come November, it won’t be a battle between two Democrats, but between ONE Democrat and ONE Republican (can you say John McCain?). And while emotions are raw right now among Democrats, and while the race issue needs to get into the open more than ever before, come November, there will be a real “game-changer”.

Operation Chaos

May 8, 2008

In criminal law, the concept is “beyond a reasonable doubt“. That principle needs to be applied to the Democratic primary process. It’s over Hillary. OVER! Don’t be wasting any more of your millions for a failed campaign. If ever there was an inept campaign it’s hers. With the greatest resources, a massive political base, and IOU’s galore, the Hillary campaign has lost to an African-American with the name Barack Hussein Obama- who had a pastor named Jeremiah Wright! Amazing! Continue Reading »

A Republican Disaster?

May 7, 2008

Old wise man himself, Newt Gingrich, has warnsed GOP of ‘real disaster’ this fall. Well DUH! It seems that message is lost on most “Bush-Republicans”. Those worse than hell poll numbers stand for something and those “something-chickens” are coming home to roost this fall. This is not rocket science politics. Continue Reading »
