Bloomberg Inches Closer
December 31, 2007
I’ve been saying for more than a year now that Michael Bloomberg has the best chance of being elected President than anyone: which includes Hillary! And it’s about more than the fact that he can pour 1/2 to 1 BILLION of his money into the campaign! Of course that doesn’t hurt now does it? Continue Reading »
Is It Bloomberg Time?
December 18, 2007
Mayor Bloomberg’s aides have been reaching out to consultants from his past campaigns about whether they are free for a possible 2008 White House bid - including one who helped make his slick mayoral TV spots, The Post has learned. Continue Reading »
Michael Bloomberg Attacks
November 18, 2007
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a potential presidential contender, berated the Republican and Democratic presidential hopefuls on Friday for “pandering in full throttle.” The billionaire independent’s pointed assessment of honesty on vital issues came during a visit to New Orleans, a tour that was itself a much-hyped event with the feel and pace of a presidential campaign swing. Michael Bloomberg
November 2, 2007
He refers to himself as a short, divorced, Jewish billionaire. But those who have closely watched Michael Bloomberg in action call him smart, decisive and gutsy. And my bet is you’ll hear much more about him 90 days from now- after we know who the Democratic and Republican nominess are.
Conservatives Consider 3rd-Party Run
October 2, 2007
Some of the nation’s most politically influential conservative Christians, alarmed by the prospect of a Republican presidential nominee who supports abortion rights, are considering backing a third-party candidate. More than 40 Christian conservatives attended a meeting Saturday in Salt Lake City to discuss the possibility, and planned more gatherings on how they should move forward, according to Richard A. Viguerie, the direct-mail expert and longtime conservative activist. Continue Reading »
Newt Says No!
September 29, 2007
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will not run for president in 2008 after determining he could not legally explore a bid and remain as head of his tax-exempt political organization, a spokesman said Saturday.
“Newt is not running,” spokesman Rick Tyler said. “It is legally impermissible for him to continue on as chairman of American Solutions (for Winning the Future) and to explore a campaign for president.” Continue Reading »
Mayoral Disagreement
September 25, 2007
In the political shootout over gun laws, Rudy Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg, one presidential candidate and one potential presidential candidate, fire a lot of shots without hitting each other. Giuliani, the former New York mayor, recently told the National Rifle Association he supports a measure that blocks access to aggregate gun trace data, a law that his successor, Bloomberg, long has targeted for repeal. Forbes Thinks Bloomberg Too
September 9, 2007
US publisher Steve Forbes predicted Sunday that Democrat Hillary Clinton will be one of three candidates vying to be the next US president. The editor-in-chief of Forbes business magazine tipped the former first lady, already a front-runner according to national polls, to win the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. “Even though the media will try to portray it as a race, I believe that Hillary Clinton is going to win it,” Forbes, who campaigned for the Republican nomination for US presidency in 1996 and 2000, said at a business lunch in Singapore. None Of Your Business!
August 25, 2007
If Bloomberg does decide to run for president in 2008, as a third aprty candidate, he’s going to have to make some changes in his financial disclosures; and maybe that’s what he’s in the process of doing right now. Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire mayor and potential presidential candidate, is refusing to release his income tax returns, unlike many politicians including the president and past New York City mayors. What’s up with that? While he doesn’t have to- it’s not a law, tradition says do it. By the way, Ross Perot didn’t! Maybe it’s a third party candidate tradition. Continue Reading »
Proving Fiscally Responsible
July 30, 2007
For the third time in six weeks, New York City’s bond rating has been upgraded by an independent rating agency. We have managed the City’s finances prudently with a focus on making long-term investments to ensure the City’s bright future. As a result, New York is stronger than ever, and Wall Street has once again recognized our success. Sounds like he’d make a good president too! Continue Reading »
America- Not New York City?
July 26, 2007
The handwriting is on the proverbial wall. It seems as though Mike is saying something about “America” and yet he is the mayor of New York City. Do you think I’m reading the tea leaves wrongly here? As you look back over my previous post, a main theme is that I believe Bloomberg will run for for President in 2008 on an Independent Party ticket. I wonder what that party will call itself? Third Party Tremors?
July 25, 2007
Will he or won’t he? In the latest twist to Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s “I’m-not-running-for-president” campaign, team Bloomberg has fired up a new Web site titled “mike2008.com.” Is this just another tease or is the mayor finally telling voters that maybe, just maybe, he will be running for president after all? Pat Buchanan
July 22, 2007
When one thinks of third party candidates in America, in the one-hand number of candidates that come to mind, Pat Buchanan is surely there. Patrick Joseph Buchanan (born Nov. 2, 1938) is an American politician, author, syndicated columnist, and broadcaster. He ran in the 2000 presidential election on the Reform Party ticket. He also sought the Republican presidential nomination in 1992 and 1996. He likes politics! Continue Reading »
