Dead Duck Or Cooked Goose!

Take your pick! It is said that the last two years of a two term president is that of a LAME DUCK! They lose their power and everyone knows it. In the case of George W. Bush, he’s way passed being a lame duck. Can you say dead duck, or maybe his goose is cooked? The immigration disgrace that he suffered Thursday morning all but let everyone know, stay away from anything Georgie is in favor or because it’s sure to go down the toliet fast! But, here’s the worst of it all.

Who would ahve ever thought that a praying, religious, church going, bible reading man could be looked upon with such disdain? Or maybe that’s one of the things that Christianity brings to the table- that dark night of the soul thing. But, wait, who said a righteous man would necessarily be a good President? Doesn’t being president take more than some sort of religious standing?

I know, I know, the religious right wants you to think that’s true.

Now you know!

But it’s one thing to be wounded, lame, or beat up. It’s quote another to be where Bush finds himself today. His administration has been disgraced by Congressman after Congressman going to jail or being run out of town on a rail Can you say Tom DeLay? Cabinet Secretaries and insiders have fallen prey to judicial battereings and jail time. Can you say Scooter Libby?

His failed immigration policy adds to a failed Iraq policy, a terrrible international view of America and Bush, mutiny by his own party and conservative base, dozens of investigations of anything and everything he has done, and oh yes, did I mention his approval rating is almost non-existent?

There is a silver lining here though. With his approval numbers so, so low, the odds are in his favor that they have a better chance of going up than down in the rest of his presidency. But, I wouldn’t bet on anything other than “cooked goose” at this point.
