Dictatorship Stalled
December 3, 2007
Venezuelans are traitors!
Hugo Chavez had said that anyone who voted NO on making him a dictator for life (of Venezuela) was a TRAITOR. Well, it appears that the majority of the country are traitors. And you know, some heads are going to roll. It may take a little more time to complete the dictatorship in Venezuela, but Hugo has the time
President Hugo Chavez suffered a stunning defeat Monday in a referendum that would have let him run for re-election indefinitely and impose a socialist system in this major U.S. oil provider. Voters defeated the sweeping measures Sunday by a vote of 51 percent to 49 percent. Voter turnout was just 56 percent.
A year ago, Chavez won re-election with 63 percent of the vote.
The changes would have created new forms of communal property, allowed Chavez to handpick local leaders under a redrawn political map, permit civil liberties to be suspended under extended states of emergency and allow Chavez to seek re-election indefinitely. Now, Chavez will be barred from running again in 2012.
Roman Catholic leaders, press freedom groups, human rights groups and prominent business leaders feared the reforms would grant Chavez unchecked power and threaten basic rights. Chavez already has all the control he needs to get anything he wants short of allowing the people to vote on the particular act. All that happened in the Dec. 2nd election was stall his dictatorship from being completed in 2007.
