FINALLY SOME DIALOGUE!

March 30, 2005

It would be an understatement to say that the First Amendment has been severly abused! Abused from the standpoint that a person can say anything, be as vulgar as they can, and then claim they have the right to say it because of the First Amendment.

Thanks to Janet Jackson we’ve gotten some insight as to where all of this is headed and enough people have had enough. I don’t think our founding fathers had smut and trash-talking in mind when they drafted the First Amendment. Now that Howard Stern and some of his clones have been fined or dropped by their radio stations, everyone is up in arms.

A regular on Fox & Friends, Mancow, has actually sued a man claiming “harassment”. Say what? You speak trash on the airwaves, I complain, and I’m harassing you? All of a sudden “decency” is an issue.

A day-long summit is being held by the FCC to try and figure out what the rules should be. Now? What’s the FCC been doing all this time anyway? Finally, we’re getting some serious dialogue about what’s decent and what’s not. I can’t wait to hear their answer.
