Gallup Poll

March 31, 2008

After the week that Obama had with the Jeremiah Wright disaster and the piling on by FoxNews, El Rushbo, and that great American, Sean Hannity, you’d think that Barack Obama would be toast. Bring on Hillary Clinton and let’s do this thing between Hillary and John McCain. But, the latest Gallup poll shows something quite the contrary.

Today’s Gallup tracking poll puts the Democratic nomination race at Barack Obama 52%, Hillary Rodham Clinton 42%. That’s his largest lead of the year, Gallup says.

“The latest results are based on Gallup Poll Daily tracking conducted March 27-29. Obama did particularly well in interviewing conducted on March 29,” the company said in its polling analysis. “This marks the first time either candidate has held a double-digit lead over the other since Feb. 4-6, at which point Clinton led Obama by 11 percentage points.”

That’s a twenty one point turn-around!

Could it be that Hillary’s constant lies, or being nice-mis-statements, have eroded her trust. I mean she began this election cycle with the worst “negative ratings” of any candidate and she’s done nothing but help that negative number- even after one of Obama’s worst weeks!

Obama expanded his national lead 3 percentage points from yesterday, when he led 50%-43%. As always, polls are snapshots, not predictions of what will happen in primaries and elections. DUh! What should rally be interesting is to see how much money both camps raised in March and how the first quarter numbers compare. My bet is that Obama continues to ring her bell and he needs to considering the Pennsylvania poll numbers.

But one more Hillary in Bosnia tale, and it might all be over before the April 22nd though I still think Bill has done more damage to her campaign than she has. But together? Oh what a couple they make!

Ah, but there’s still 23 more days until the Pennsylvania primary!
