IS THAT A WHEEL IN THE DITCH?

September 30, 2004

I don’t know about you but it appears to me that the wheels are coming off the Bush administration machine. The LEAK is going to do a lot of damage regardless of whether or not there is a special prosecutor. But, that’s not the real story. There’s always a story behind the story.

According to several insiders, this is a war by the doves (what a pun) on the hawks for taking the U.S. to war with faulty intelligence information, and without U.N. approval. If Rummy likes a fight, I think he’s got one: so too for Dick Cheney.

Then there are those Republican Senators (not those Democratic ten that are running for president) who are revolting over the idea of giving $87B to the cause in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s going to be a nasty and close fight to get those billions.

The right wing is also smarting from what Rush thinks about McNabb. It appears that the only place things are going well for the Republicans is in California where Arnold is surging; however, with five more days to go, anything can surface there.

It seems that there are just some days, some times, when all hell breaks loose against you. It appears that this is one of those times and Bush is one of those people. When 70% of the people (according to one of those pesky polls) want a special prosecutor, it says that Bush is in trouble. I mean here’s a man who has the highest the highest trust ratings of any president in history (had). And, his administration is under attack- big time. The good news is that we’re still thirteen months away from the election. Still time to pull a rabbit out of the hat (can you say UBL and Saddam?).

If that’s not a wheel in the ditch, those sure like lug bolts along the side of the road for sure!
