Knowledge Happens!

You’ve probably seen the bumper sticker that read Sh** Happens! A more subtle but no less distasteful concept also comes into our life; however, this second “happening” runs the length of our lfie and is therefore much more insidious. We all need to be educated; however, if we’re not aware one day we wake up and find out the Knowledge Happens!

Who Wants Cheaper Auto Insurance?

As a child things are very simple. We live in a fantasy world where cares are few if any and going to sleep can be accomplished in a second, under almost any circumstance. There are no guilt feelings, no shame, no worries about tomorow’s meal, or how a myraid of things will happen because to a child everything is in the NOW!

And then we grow up, which doesn’t mean we mature. :-(

We begin to master our cultural language, we give names to things, we LABEL everyone and everything, we develop abstract concepts that become calcified in our minds, and we start to catalogue stories about everything such that we’re now defined by those stories. And slowly without even knowing that it’s happening the voice in our HEAD takes the dictatorial seat and the SPIRIT gets little playing time.

Life is pretty much over!

The voice in your head, those silent conversations that are going on all day long dictate how you’ll feel, how you are supposed to act, and what attitudes and opinions you are to exhibit for each event in the day. In essence we humans become victimized by what we know, by the knowledge that we’ve gained: most of which is not truth.

Who would have ever thought knowledge could be bad?

And is there any way to truly estimate how much damage our public EDUCATIONAL system is doing to our children? I think not.
