Long Range Missile Strategies

July 29, 2006

It’s been said that we either learn from history or we a doomed to repeat it. So, let’s forget about what’s happening across the big pond and see what might be lurking just South of the tip of Florida. And I am not talking about Fidel Castro of Cuba either, but his heir apparent, spiritual son, Hugo Chvez.

I have been watching this loose cannon for fifteen years now and he only gets more dangerous by the month. As I write this post, Hugo is in Iran celebrating his birthday (which actually was yesterday) with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Hugo is there, like he has been to China, Syria, and every nation that is anti-American.

Other than the PR reasons, Hugo wants to make a deal for some oil, as though each needed more, and more importantly, to make some strategic promises that theives like to do among themselves. Chavez has made it clear that if America attacks Cuba, Iran, or any of his buddy nations, Hugo would see it as an attack on Venezuela. My, my, what bravado!

All of this of course plays well back home; however, it’s not what’s happening today, but what looms down the road for America that needs to be paid attention to. There’s no doubt that Chavez would like to acquire a long range missile that he could threaten America. They will not be loaded onto Russian ships and sent across the seas though like the Cuban Missile Crisis.

But, you can bet that one day, we will be confronted with a face-off from this Vanezuelan dictator.
