Master & Slave
July 23, 2008
We are consciousness. Consciousness is the eternal, timeless, and immaterial essence of all individuals that originates in God: predating birth and surviving death. The MASTER that man serves is that which he is conscious of being. Who am I, who are we? In order to understand and answer such questions we must go WITHIN!
Go within and shut the door is the admonition. The urging of us to enter the closet and pray isn’t a physical-literal statement. The closet is your inner-spiritual person, being. Go within where true life is found, where the Kingdom of God IS. The Kingdom is over there or here, but within.
If we remain on the outside, living only be appearances then we are a SLAVE to our senses. And aren’t we all to some degree?
We must break the repitious and hypnotic spell of living by our senses primarily. We must CLOSE the door of our SENSES so that we can honor and embrace the truth of our spiritual being. This is not to deny the flesh and the material world as it’s all God; however, we were built to live inside out, not outside in. If the failing of inculturation has shown us anything, we should understand that paradigm.
It’s impossible to serve two masters!
We need to get our priorities straight and that means we must serve the One who created us and not the one that we have created. Too often I try to please the “seen Ernie” and forget the need to embrace and nuture the “unseen Ernie” that is what will live on eternally after this physical frame deteriorates (more than it has to date).
Neither should we try and disclaim what we physically see, but rather, place our attention on that which is real. Fighting against a thing affirms it and gives it strength. Denying evil, fighting evil, only strengthens evil. Renouncing evil through giving ones attention to the TRUTH, denies evil of its power. It takes some getting used to, but doesn’t everything new?
Who’s your daddy? Who’s your master? What are you a slave to this moment?
