POLITICS- Part Three

November 1, 2003

I am writing Saturday’s report on Friday at 5:20pm Merida, Venezuela time as I will be in-flight all day Saturday. Sunday, I will start giving my predictions for Tuesday. Hey, life cannot be fun unless you can make some mistakes and fail every now and then.

So, what’s the trashy political news for the day? It seems as though that’s what it all gets down to in the last 3-4 days, especially for those who know they are behind. And, on a sad note, for whatever it’s worth, Wellstone’s pilot
had served a federal prison term for mail fraud not long ago.

Jesse Ventura was so turned off by the Wellstone pep rally that was called a memorial that he’s decided that he’s not going to appoint a Democrat to fill in for Wellstone. Jesse interprets the law that his selection will get to be there until January. Unhappy Democratic officials somehow say the newly elected Mondale gets sworn in November 19th. Doesn’t he have to WIN first?

Reno is so hot-to-trot in Florida that she’s asked a judge to bar Republican “poll watchers” from the Miami-Dade area. She feels that they will intimidate people. Oh, yes. Then there are the absentee ballots that turned up partially burned in a field in South Dakota. Man is this ever going to be a fun election.

With so many tight races, challenges are going to be all over the place. The latest polls show that there are TEN Senate seats that are just too close to call but of course I am sure that won’t hurt the networks from making an early call: even if wrong.

So much for the smut. Since part four comes on a Sunday, we’ll clean it up a bit.
