Red Phone?
March 9, 2008
Obama won the Wyoming caucus and won almost as many more pledged delegates votes over Hillary as she did over Obama on Super Tuesday II. Okay, so he won on 2 or 3 more delegates than her. But she won only 5 or 6 more than he did in Super Tuesday II. Now it’s on to the Mississippi primary on Tuesday where Hillary will take another beating. Will the referee please step in, or can someone answer the red phone please?
If someone doesn’t answer the Democratic red phone soon, both Obama and Hillary are going to destroy each other and hand the nomination to the Republicans. There simply is no easy solution to this battle. How long can this dilemma continue? Look at the facts.
1-Hillary cannot top Obama in pledged delegates. It’s impossible!
2-Obama will win nearly twice as many states as Hillary
3-Hillary most likely can’t top Obama in total popular vote.
4-The Michigan-Florida mess is a sore getting worse.
5-Supporters are being tapped out of political donations
Who can end this battle before it blows up in the Democrats face? Or, is it impossible? Hillary keeps pointing to Pennsylvania like that’s going to save her. Super Tuesday didn’t save her and Super Tuesday II didn’t save here. Dick Morris had this to say.
“Will Hillary win Pennsylvania? Who cares? Even if she were to sweep the remaining primaries and caucuses by 10 points, she would move just 60 votes closer to Obama’s total of elected delegates. And she won’t sweep them all. Even if Hillary wins Pennsylvania, the largest prize up for grabs, Obama will probably win North Carolina, which is almost as large. He’s likely to win in Oregon and Indiana. The most likely result of these coming contests is that Obama will be roughly where he is now, about 140 elected delegates ahead of Hillary.”
So, do the two warriors keep on slicing each other up and keep the acrimony going for three more months? Does anyone really want that? We shall soon see because I can’t see the the neutral and yet influential Democratic power brokers allowing this to continue on.
WIll someone tell Bill Richardson, John Edwards, Al Gore, and others to please pick up the RED PHONE!
