State Of The Nation!

March 18, 2008

America has a choice going forward and never were those two choices more clear than that which came out of New York and Philadelpiha on Tuesday. A governor (Eliot Spitzer) is removed because of his use of call girls while attacking those in the prostitution industry to which he himself indulged, was replaced by the Lt. Governor who admitted that he and his wife both had “affairs” a few years ago. And then there was the hope for our nation as evidenced by Barack Obama’s speech in Phildelphia- a case for a more perfected state of the nation.

Many in America are just not ready to face the realities that are needing to be addressed that face the state of our nation. The media has had a field day decrying the outrageous statements by the Rev. Jeremiah Wright (as I do, as Obama has); however, their accusations and finger-pointing have been done out of ignorance of the true state of our nation and-or for political fodder.

I have said for many months now that Barack Obama represents and is symbolic of the HEALING that our nation needs to truly address and also of the international gestures that this nation needs to present to the world community.

Barack Obama is a symbol for RACE reconciliation in America.

Barack Obama is a symbol for RELIGIOUS reconciliation in the world.

He is a SYMBOL only. But that’s not a bad place to start. I don’t know if he can DELIVER, but of this I am sure. Neither Hillary Clinton nor John McCain bring our nation, nor the world back to any sense of a more perfect union. Hillary at home stands for divisiveness and political animosity. McCain abroud stand for military arrogance and more of the same that George Bush got such low approval ratings on at home and disdain abroad.

Obama is tagged with the “inexperienced” label and I see that as GOOD NEWS!

Do we want to continue the EXPERIENCE of the Clinton years, filled with more “political gate” than one can count on two hands, or do we wanto to continue a war that is stealing the life from so many young men and women in our military while costing us twelve billion a MONTH to fight?

I, for one, believe the state of the nation is best served by the spirit of the speech that Obama gave today in Philadelphia which can be read in it’s entirety by CLICKING HERE.
