THE AMERICAN RABBIT MENTALITY
November 30, 2005
Well, the president has made his case about Iraq again. The Democrats have been asking for a more detailed plan so he produced a BOOK for them yesterday and gave his speech at the Naval Academy to back it up. Is there anyone that felt that the Democrats would have been satisfied about anything he could have said?
Immediately after he spoke, a dozen Democrats took to the airways, speeches already written, and lambasted his plan as nothing new- if a plan at all. Kerry did his infamous flip flop, saying the exact opposite of what he had said five months ago. I wonder if he suffers from political amnesia?
Nancy Pelosi decided she needed a few minutes of fame so she came out backing Murtha’s failed plan. And on and on it went throughout the day. When all the dust had settled nothing had changed. And here is what’s being demonstrated once more in America.
We are good at starting wars. We are good at taking the initiative; however, America just does not have the will to finish what we start. Could it be that we are suffering from a social, collective ADHD? I am hopeful that Bush will stay the course and not do the Viet Nam “run” scenario. He keeps saying he’ll stay the course; however, he’s going to have to keep selling the plan because in America, we’re more rabbit minded than we are turtle oriented.
