Waiting On New Mexico

February 7, 2008

Overlooked in all of the Super Tuesday drama is one that’s not yet finished. The 38 delegates that go to new Mexico for the Democratic party still isn’t decided! Democratic Party officials in New Mexico resumed counting votes Wednesday after a higher-than-expected turnout proved problematic for caucus voters and left the state as the last one undecided from Super Tuesday for Democrats.

With 181 of 184 precincts reporting, Hillary Clinton led early Wednesday morning with 65,845 votes, a mere 117-vote lead against Barack Obama’s tally of 65,728 votes. But there are several outstanding polling sites to be heard from as well as a host of provisional ballots!

Will we know this year? :-)

Still outstanding are votes from three polling sites in Rio Arriba County: Espanola Middle School, Hernandez Elementary School, and Chimayo Elementary School. Democratic party officials said they cannot reach the Rio Arriba County Chair for the returns. Maybe 1 Delegate & 1,100 Votes on February 8th, 2008 7:19 pm
